[MOC] The GHOST from Star Wars: Rebels

Recommended Posts

I started on a minifig scale ghost. it's a little over a metre long. And I didn't get very far to be honest. happy to share what I did.

http://starwarsrebel...s-of-ghost.html

Those pics are useful.

I actually found some images on the same site you linked: https://community.fa...ls-ships/page-2

They give a decent idea of the scale compared to other ships.

I'll make my own thread for my build when i get something done.

Looking at the turret, I realize the Buzz dome is too big

For the turret, i'm planning on using the front dome from the official Ghost set. There's a larger 8x8 dome similar to that which i'll use for the front instead. For the actual pilot's windshield i was planning on either using the windscreen from the Falcon sets, or a combination of some trans black slopes and wedges which can be made to work as a windshield.

Yep. Bought an 8 by 8 dome in clear. I was thinking two of these for the windshield in trans clear:

http://alpha.brickli...page?P=6059#T=C

you could make it bigger with one of these - http://alpha.brickli...page?P=2571#T=C - but I think given the cockpit is a little smaller than the front dome it works. SNOT technique.

The interesting part is getting the angles to work. I was playing around with pythagorean triples. Some of the bigger ones with extra rigid technic supports (side by side technic bricks joined with pins and plates above and below to increase strength) and car tracks: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=42942#T=C and http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=42936#T=C

I was also working in light blueish grey as it I have more of it and I prefer it for star wars.

I found some of those 8x8 domes listed in trans-black. It doesn't list any sets that had them in that color, so i messaged a seller who had one and they said it was indeed trans black 8x8, so i'll see how that is when i get it. For this dome, i'll probably build up the base to make it wider, since the actual ship has a white base under the actual glass portion which continues the dome shape. So this area will probably be 10x10 with the added base.

I'll have to get it together to see what it really looks like, but i was thinking of some combination of these for the pilots windshield:

Three of these tilted and angled to create the right shape (i might remove the hinges): https://alpha.brickl...lor=13#T=C&C=13

This:

https://alpha.brickl...lor=13#T=C&C=13

With these on each side:

https://alpha.brickl...lor=13#T=C&C=13

https://alpha.brickl...lor=13#T=C&C=13

Maybe these with some other bits:

https://alpha.brickl...lor=13#T=C&C=13

https://alpha.brickl...lor=13#T=C&C=13

The angles shouldn't be too much of a problem since i'll have plenty of space to work with to create a good skeletal structure. The angled corner sections will probably be where a lot of the structural support will be, since there doesn't seem to be much interior space in those areas, so i can take advantage of that space to get a rigid skeleton.

Interested to see how it comes out with those. There definitely inst a perfect fit - the ucs landscpeeder moc floating around tackled this issuse https://www.flickr.c...04/16381331101/

Yeah, it's unfortunate that there isn't a single component that works for this shape of windshield. That landspeeder is nice, and that's basically how i originally thought of putting together the windshield for the Ghost, interesting to see something similar as an example.

I have dismantled this MOC and I am currently in the prozess of sorting and organizing my pieces because I want to build a larger version of the GHOST based on building techniques of this MOC and some new techniques I've sketch-built to test stability etc. The build itself will propably take quarter to half a year, and definately feature more interior, and I'll post WIPS and updates exclusively here!

hört sich gut an ;)

excited to see the result. a mini fig scale ghost would be awesome. i have this is in mind since lego released the ghost but just had no time to realize this. you know the millenium falcon 10000 pieces set. sure u do. that features some great interior but on the other hand is just huge.

thanks for updating :)

Would love to see it! There are some great interior colours. A large sectional build would be great.

Is there any pictures of interior of the ghost just like you will find for the millennium falcon online?

Would be interesting to see some plans

Gravely dislike Rebels not as a concept or t's style but just in the execution of the show. However the Ghost is actually one of my favorite parts of the show and you captured the true essence of the ship, a very good MOC!

A superb MoC!

Thanks a ton for providing the breakdown-pictures, I started rebuilding it about a week ago and am having a blast.

I'm going to take a shot of my progress when I find the time. Here are some of the reference images I collected and snapped, for anyone interested:

Would you mind sharing a link to your flickr, DarthTwoShedsJackson?

Your version is fantastic, and I think the scale is perfect. I wish I had the time in order to try and recreate it; The photographs reveal it's more of a complicated build than I originally thought.

Hey, I saw this recently and I've wanted to build this ever since. I have started, but I haven't been able to get the internals right, and I would like to get the full parts list, or extensive instructions before I truly begin. Does anybody have an LDD file, or .pdf so that I can build this amazing model.

Hey everyone, sorry to bump this thread but I think it is worth it, I just finished making the Ghost + Phantom on LDD, it is I would say 98% accurate to the model, some parts like the turret and a few pieces are put next to the ship because I wasn't allowed to put them into the build, but they are very easy to put back into the ship just by looking at the pictures.

Here it is: https://www.mediafire.com/?3u671aj0hccd7j8

I will definitely try to make this beautiful MOC, and thanks to DarthTwoShedsJackson for taking all those pictures, it definitely helped me making this!

All photographs is broken.......@@

Yeah, Photobucket just hosed all their users by requiring you to pay $399 subscription to use external links to your pics hosted by them. I've just moved all my 360 renders (the only stuff I don't host on Flickr because they don't do animated gifs) to Google Photos and deleted my Photobucket account. They can shove it!

Not a big deal for me as I only had like 20 pics there, but heavy users are really being hit bad.

Damn! I'll have to look to my own photo bucket account, but this is very very bad - this model of the Ghost was the best I have ever seen.  I remember about a year, back I spent a month reverse-engineering the model from the build photos that had been posted.  And to think I deleted my offline copies the other week as part of a HD cleanup...

If you want the instructions I would gladly give it out. It took me 5 weeks to reverse engineer the thing!
