Hello All -

Quick question... I recently got my hands on the Mack Anthem  (Yea!).   I have been wanting this for quite some time.  However, looking at the two gear racks (light bluish gray) they are quite sticky.  I have tried them out in the red housing, and the gear racks have no problem, but when I use them in the gear housing that the set came with they stick horribly.  I dont have any light bluish gray housing (other than those that came with the set) to experiment with, but as mentioned, I do have reds and they work just fine.  Can anyone out there confirm that gray housings work just as well as the red?  And if so, looks like perhaps I got a lousy pair?   Is this worth reaching out the TLG about?   I want to use these housings in a MOC I am doing that pushes 4 racks from housings, and even an L motor (PF) can't do all of them because these two stick so bad.  Thoughts?

Maybe they are bent?

I have just learned that the 1/2 bush with the tire 59895 is actually thicker than 1/2 module, and that ruins my plan for some mods.

Is there any wheel combo or wheel equivalent that has roughly the same diameter and is 1/2 module thick? I can only think of a black 12 tooth half gear.

just train wheels, which use a bar hole anyhow

Interestingly I just picked up 8466 and bags 5 6 7 were still factory sealed from 2001, but all of the 16l technic bricks were sticky to touch. I don't know why...

Does the new 2 module gear selector from the Yamaha work with the 2 module axle connector with ridges in the old PF sets?

I don't have the parts in hand, but I'm going to say no. It would likely fit onto that one, but there isn't the little spring-loaded tab in the middle, so it wouldn't click into the ridges at all

Interesting how set 42173 has 2 other parts in reddish orange that don't exist in set 42177, and those are:

  • Axle 2L with Bush
  • Connector with Pinhole & 1L axle

This will be good for if we want to improve the bodywork.

Here are some more parts in Reddish Orange too.

Anyone know of any other new sets that have new recolors in reddish orange?

Bizarre! If it was only one different color, I'd suspect a different length, but if there's three different ones, yeah, they're probably just doing it for color coding.

But wait! Perhaps, after subjugating our gearboxes, the dreaded hordes of the "Colour Vomit" are advancing on our suspension systems too! Man the battlements! Deploy the portcullis! (Or some such...)

The one upside I could see is exposed suspension systems fitting the color scheme of the model on a buggy or something...

Interesting.. I don't think they would do a recolor just for color coding of identical parts. More probable that they would be required elsewhere, but in two such vibrant colors right off the bat? Strange..

(frame from the promo video) I think it's green rather than Bright green, but hard to be sure.  And there's a green towball as well.  Probably the 2x2 plate with towball.

Personally I kinda like the "colour vomit", I already have the lime version of these links, would welcome more options.  But 1x of each is awkward cause I do like symmetry on my cars.

That looks like a 3rd recolor in a single set, right?

I'm ready! lol :pir_laugh2:
:cannon::pir-triumph:
I think this is more of a welcome change than the colored gearbox parts though... :shrug_oh_well:

I watched RacingBrick's video about the new reddish-orange off-roader with the new #7 angle connectors, and it looks like they're halfway between #2 and #3, although he did't measure it. That would mean the angle is 11.25 degrees (or 168.75 degrees, depending on which angle you measure). This would mean 32 connectors make a full circle.

I hope the connector will become available in more neutral colors. I think it can certainly come in handy in places.
