After looking at photos of peoples setup in that thread, I realised how much time I spend looking for parts. Now I live in Australia so what are the best brands for storage that I could pick up at say a Bunnings or Kmart? I want ones that are like a shelf. Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Nalyd

I'm not sure anyone could really be of too much help here. A good storage solution will strongly depend on a number of factors, including size and variety of your LEGO collection, amount of space you have, portability requirements, and budget considerations.

You seem to have some idea of what you want, so I suggest you just go into a shop and have a look at what they've got. Just remember, you generally get what you pay for.

This is what I use, purchased from Bunnings.

http://paulstechnic....se-for-few.html

Works the best out of all the different systems I have tried.

I too use that same Tactix brand (not the exact same containers though), and I must say; for LEGO they are pretty brilliant. Not expensive, and they come in a variety of sizes. I have several different ones in different sizes, for connectors, electronics, pneumatics, gears etc etc. Sorting your collection in containers like this really saves a lot of time when MOCing!

I use the Fischer branded storage containers. They're clear(ish) so you can see at a glance what is in each box and they come in a range of sizes.

They only seem to be stocked in Masters stores [here in WA anyway]. If you are in Melbourne there are a number of other stockists. Just Google it.

Hope this helps.

If there is amazon in Australia you could buy some storage containers from akromills. Thats what I have and it works like a charm!

Hi Nalyd,

Here are some links that might give some ideas on the 'what':

Storage and Sorting LEGO

Sorting the unusual pieces

As to the 'where', here's where I got mine:

SMALL: Little drawers (5x4) from Jaycar

MEDIUM (1): Cheap storage bins that stack or go on racks (from Mitre 10), there are various quality choices...I went for the cheapest...not too bad, but not perfect

MEDIUM (2): 'Organisers' similar to what jantjeuh has pictured above, but with removable compartments. It isn't named or branded except as 'Removable compartment organiser'. Also from Mitre 10.

LARGE: Some storage tubs with lids from a local 'Reject Shop' style chain

Good luck,

LLL

I use about 6 of these, plus a few smaller flat ones for all my different gears.

http://www.lowes.com...k+on&facetInfo=

They work great and have internal dividers that can also be used.

I got 2 of those and 1 of these http://www.amazon.com/Three-Drawer-Desktop-Storage-Chest for the normal Lego I have. Technic I use 2 http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Storage-Organizer 1 http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-25-Removable-Compartment, and 2 or 3 ( to be replaced with the Stanley storage) http://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Components.

Got around to taking some photos of the Tactix boxes that I use, find these at Bunnings for around A$8ea.

They are ideal for smaller parts, they are very secure & stackable (the dividers can be removed, if required) plus once you are organised it is very fast to locate the part you're after.

Hope this helps......
