Heroica RPG - Quest #113: Mystery in the Mines

Recommended Posts

Alexander agrees with Thalion words about Quellir " We will have to fight again, I'm sure..." then he pauses a moment and listen to the others suggestion before speaking again "Ok, let's go to the Duplovian camp. All stay ready for any menace incoming..." he concludes starting to move...

Wildmen are unpredictable. They'll dig anywhere they want to. It's possible they had a cavern built up near by, and burst into the mines.

Well, here we are.

img_0569.jpg

The Duplovians are visibly shaken up by something. As soon as the heroes come into view, the miners glare at them in wide-eyed fear. Before they can react the Duplovians have grabbed weapons and are charging.

Siercon spoke so the whole party could hear him, as he knew they had more experience than he. "Guys, would it help to use a remedy on these guys, un-confuse them and find out what is going on? I'll donate mine." He finished, "Perhaps they can be helpful in our journey. we could test it out on one?"

Siercon stands ready with his wand in one hand and a remedy in another.

Depending on the groups reaction to his question, he will either. Use a remedy, or

Thalion nods, "I think it worth a shot. Those people look scared and confused, who knows what kind of monsters they probably made us to be..." saying so, Thalion takes the Sleeper and swings it at Insane Miner A, from back row.

Results of Round One of the

:

William vs. Insane Miner A - Damage (15 damage; 28-15=13 health

>Thalion vs. Insane Miner A - Special Damage (((15x3)/2)-7=15 damage; 37-15=22 health)

Alexander vs. Insane Miner B - Aim (15x2=30 damage; 100-30=70 health)

Quellir vs. Insane Miner B - Hit (10+10=20 damage, 70-20=50 health)

Siercon uses remedy on Insane Miner C

The heroes are quickly caught off guard by the Duplovians. Like a crazed mob they swarm Thalion, and attack William as well. Alexander and Quellir have much better luck, teaming up to heavily injure one of the miners. Siercon, using a much different strategy, uses a remedy on one of the miners. The miner blinks back to normality, looking in shock at the horror around him, and stepping away from the battle.

I... I'm terribly sorry about that. Who are you? Where did you come from? Are... are you finally our rescuers?

"We are here to find why the contacts with you were lost, and yes we are your rescuers; with are with the Duplovian, as Master Quellir and Master Rone can assure you. Can you explain why we find you insane?"

They came from out of nowhere. Killed everyone. We managed to escape, but it's impossible to say when they'll be back. Their leader... he fought like nothing I've ever seen.

img_0719.jpg

Like nothing I've heard of, save Jadec Marr.

img_0718.jpg

Jadec Marr's a legend, a folk tale. Don't be ridiculous.

img_0719.jpg

Well legends start somewhere, right?

img_0717.jpg

Whoever he was, I barely caught a glimpse of them. Of any of them, really. But... I think they were from Delfrin.

IMG_1813_zps7d0cbd6e.jpg

Are you absolutely sure?

img_0717.jpg

Yeah, they were definitely Delfrin.

Siercon questions the Miners. "Attacked by humans from Delfrin eh?... Can any of you venture a guess as to why?" Siercon continued showing them the map. "From which direction did your attackers come from, and what is in this western pocket corridor near where we are?"

How should I know? And like I said, they were fast - came out of nowhere.

img_0718.jpg

The Western Pocket? We've had some bets going around.

img_0719.jpg

None of us have ventured too far into it, but we're fairly certain it's some kind of shelter.

img_0718.jpg

I'm betting on Cave Trolls.

Thalion drinks two potions and puts on his Cloak of Necrotic Shielding.

Turning to the miners he responds, "We are from Heroica, and I believe you recognize these gentlemen..." he says, pointing to the Rone and Quellir. "Who is Jadec Marr, if you dont mind me asking?"

img_0718.jpg

Like I said, Jadec Marr's a legend, nothing but.

img_0719.jpg

They say he was the last great warrior, that he was adept with any weapon any could win on any battlefield.

img_0718.jpg

You hear that? 'Last great warrior'... we've got plenty of great warrior's kicking around! We all heard about that battle in Baltarok, right?

img_0717.jpg

Aw, be quiet and let him talk.

img_0719.jpg

Then the legends died down. No one knows what happened. Some say he faced a battle he couldn't win, others say he simply grew tired of life in the Kingdoms. Some say he might have even passed into another realm. No one knows for sure.

img_0718.jpg

Because it's rubbish.

IMG_1813_zps7d0cbd6e.jpg

Not all of it.

img_0719.jpg

What?

IMG_1813_zps7d0cbd6e.jpg

There was a Jadec Marr once. Fought his fair share of battles, sure. I never met him myself, but from what I've heard he was definitely the stuff of legends.

img_0719.jpg

And then?

IMG_1813_zps7d0cbd6e.jpg

Then, nothing. Like you said, no one knows what happened to Jadec Marr. But unlike the legends, he was only human. He probably died, if not in battle then out in the wilderness.

IMG_1816_zpsb0c9914f.jpg

But that ain't going to happen to us. We're getting out of here alive.

IMG_1813_zps7d0cbd6e.jpg

Well, of course. I think we've found all we can here, unless you folks have any more questions. Where to next, heroes?

"I'd Like to check out this western corridor since we're so close by. I think slowly sweeping the mines might be slightly more methodical and safe. I'd like to say to the miners 'Stay here, we'll figure this out' but I'd hate to find them in peril once we've left because we missed a corner." Siercon also didn't want to miss any opportunities to learn, gain experience, and potentially find some stuff with his new shovel... "But, I'm game for whatever, though we should probably make sure these guys get to the surface or somewhere safe."

"Interesting this Jadec Marr..." mumbles Alexander hearing Master Rone and the miners speaking about him "But we will think about later..." he thinks, it is time to choosen their next direction.

The idea of Siercon isn't bad and Alexander nods "Good idea, let's go!" the he leads the party to the western corridor, ready to fight...
