I am working on a MOC and I want to incorporate a minifig scale cricket bat. I know BrickArms makes a custom cricket bat accessory but I want to keep this MOC purist plus the BrickArms cricket bats are very hard to get (certainly in tan. the color that they are most useful in). Anyone got any suggestions on how to make something that would be recognizable as a cricket bat to someone who knows nothing about LEGO and look good (and not too big or out-of-place) at minifig scale? Google isn't throwing up anything useful (only custom-made bats and the aforementioned too-hard-to-get BrickArms bat).

Some ideas for how I could build a cricket player (in the white getup worn for international Test Matches) would be nice too. Just something generic I can have standing there holding the bat, not intending to represent any specific player.

I don't know what to do for the bat, that one is hard.

For the minifigure, Homer Simpson's torso (white collared shirt) with plain white pants would be spot on, or perhaps the tennis ace from series 7 CMF if you want a bit of colour. There may be other plain white shirts out there, but they are two recent ones, and probably fairly readily available.

If you are going to cut and paint why not just buy one?

As for a "purist" solution: I would suggest a tan 1x3 tile with a 2x2 tan plate attached and for a handle ... arggh... I have no idea what to call the part I am thinking of but it has a stud on the end and I usually use them for a wrench.

Anything built with bricks will be bulky and anything from weapons/utensils will prbably require modifications. I'd imagine that's why the 3rd party part was created, it is too bad they are so stingy on the tan ones.

This seems like the closest shape and is cheap enough that it's probably what I'd go with if I was doing this, I'd cut off the extra tip part and possibly paint it. Do the bats ever come in silver color like this?

Minifig, Weapon Sword, Uruk-hai

Pure purist version, I'd think this sign plus a 1x3 tile would be your best bet.

Minifig, Utensil Signal Paddle

Cutting & painting an old castle sword or uruk hai sword is about the only way that you are going to get something looking like a cricket bat - short of buying one.

I don't expect to see one in CMF. Baseball may not be a more popular sport worldwide, but among Lego fans it is.

I'd use the tile like above or even a 1x2, attach it to a minifig neck bracket. Then attach one of those new 1x1 round plates with a hole in them (to the hole in the bracket) and insert a black bar of the appropriate length. Front on it'll look ok but ugly from behind.

You can get aluminium ones. Dennis Lillee used one as a marketing stunt in 1979. But now for official matches they have to be willow.

For the cricket bat, the best way I can think of is buy it from a BrickArms reseller for $1.

You could get the BA cricket bat in WhITE OR Brown if you cannot find Tan.

He said he doesn't want BrickArms

+1 for this part:

Thanks, that worked for what I needed it for.
