DARKspawn Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 (edited) Hi guys :-) This is my latest MOC, a medieval observatory. Pic is BS Link It was developed from an entry I made for the Harry Potter contest held on Millionare Playboy. Observatories didn't start appearing in Europe until the late 1600s, so I am using a bit of artistic licence here ;-) Edited June 16, 2007 by DARKspawn Quote
iamded Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 (edited) *y* *y* Oooh! Very nice! I saw the contest on MP, but I didn't expect anything as good as this to be on there! I love the balcony, where did you get all those grey cups?! Great detail, excellent job! *y* Just one thing, Exo-force heads don't really go well with castle bodies... WesternOutlaw Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 DS: you never fail to surprise me with your outstanding castle MOCs. I think you're one of the best castle "MOC'ers" out there. I like the height of this creation the most. Aside from the stunning towers, I love how you designed the bridge and the river/river landscaping. It actually looks real. How long does a MOC this size take you to build? Truly outstanding! *y* *y* Quote
Sir Dillon Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 SD: you never fail to surprise me with your outstanding castle MOCs. Thank you. :-$ I'm not exactly sure what this has to do with Darkspawn's creation, though. :-P Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Thank you. :-$ I'm not exactly sure what this has to do with Darkspawn's creation, though. :-P Unfortunately, you quoted me before I edited the typo. Sometimes I get to going a little faster than I can handle. DS NOT SD- although you guys do have some similarities. (I suppose like me and Brick Miner). Quote
Greatdane Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 man that is awesome, do the towers actully have anythink inside to them (ie stairs etc), or is this just a MOC for show on the outside? the scenery looks great to, love that little river *y* Quote
zouave Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 So much for my 1 foot tall 3/4 megablocks tower.Yours is astounding. It looks lord of the rings to though. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 (edited) Images of this are going into my inspirational lego mocs folder (that's a significant compliment, just so you know *y* ) I like results of the the octagonal "round" towers with the cylinders and the embelishment of each wall as well as the roof's slope bricks useage. It is one of the best round towers out there. The astrologers are pretty gosh darn cool too. Edited June 17, 2007 by ghoulrealm Quote
Asuka Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Just beautiful. Building :'-) Landscaping *wub* Mfs :-D Dragon *sweet* A great work indeed! Quote
DARKspawn Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) Thanks for the kind comments guys :-D How long does a MOC this size take you to build? It took me about 3 weeks of 1-2 hour sessions a day do the towers actully have anythink inside to them (ie stairs etc), or is this just a MOC for show on the outside? unfortunetly there is no interrior, it's hard to do with octagon towers, although I have done it before Edited June 18, 2007 by DARKspawn Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I can't begin to say how much I love this thing. While I love the way you built it, with the two interconnected towers, my favorite part is easily the landscaping. I love that stream, and the rocky banks! My one criticism would have to be the top of the tower with the telescope, it's too open for my taste, I know there has to be a better way to do that, and I know you can figure it out (I'll be thinking about it too), and when you compare it to the rest of the MOC, it's a very, very small criticism ;-) Great work, DarkSpawn! El Bucanero Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) Another high quality MOC from this magnificent castle builder! It's superb! I love the little details. Especially these: (the way the fences are made): Really beautiful! Where do you guys get so much LEGO.... Mr Tiber Edited June 18, 2007 by Mr Tiber Quote
