Xavier Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Slightly off-topic, but I was just wondering, is the theme going to end after the summer wave? I sure hope not! Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Sadly i think the summer wave is the last wave of UA sets. If they keep going, there's not much left to do since they already made the main villain of the theme. Edited March 5, 2015 by amazingbricks Quote
Xavier Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Darn. I was hoping we would get more waves. Oh well, guess that means I should pick up what I can while still possible. Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I have the set and I can confirm it's a nice one: cool design, interesting Minifigures and a good "cost per brick" value You missed the best part: Tron Light Cycle. Quote
BrickSev Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 You missed the best part: Tron Light Cycle. Can we include it in the "cool design" part hehe? Btw I personally like that set a lot. I also built the Ultra Copter and it's amazing: most UA sets are indeed superb ones Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I have $100 worth of spending money, so along with Invizable Gold Getaway, I think I'll also pick up the UltraCopter (I'm surprised to see it's 80 bucks. Thought it was more than that). Unless there's a better $100 price combo you'd suggest. Quote

I don't remember the US prices (I live in Europe ) but unless you want to maximize the numbers of sets (in the case you can buy 2-3 sets with the cost of the UltraCopter) I think it' a very interesting combo. Another nice sets (I don't have it yet but I heard a lot of good things on it) is the "Stealth Patrol". Personally I really like the UltraCopter: nice details, cool functions and it also comes with AntiMatter on his "speeder" Quote

I think I'm going to stick with my original plan and get the Ultracopter and Invizable. Mainly because I don't know if I'll get another chance to pick up the Ultracopter anytime soon. Plus... Antimatter. Quote

Mainly because I don't know if I'll get another chance to pick up the Ultracopter anytime soon. Plus... Antimatter. I agree with you and it's exactly what I did myself. I got Invizable, UltraCopter plus the tiny "Spyclops" ( I hope I spelled it right ) Still my best UA deal is the Mobile Command I bought with 30% discount during Christmas holidays. I haven't built it yet, though, but once I complete a couple of ongoing projects I'll build it Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Went with my initial decision and got Invizable and the Ultracopter. Only built the Invizable set as of now, and I must say it's really cool. The bike is a lot bulkier than I expected, and Invazable's little... Space scooter? Is actually a nice little build. I usually only focus on the main bulk of the set, but I won't deny that it's a cool little scooter. Now Invizable... What a cool minifig. I think he may have just taken Brick Daddy's place as my favorite minifig. I just love his design. The gold and maroon outfit and the clear head with sunglasses. He's just a neat looking character. I think my only complaint with the set is that I wish the inside of the wheels were trans blue as well. It'd look better in flight mode, if you ask me. Also, who'd build a clear safe? That's not a very secure way to hide your valuables. XD Quote

XD A clear safe would be chosen by any "collector" intended to show display his precious items Some transparent materials can be very resistant Invizible Minifigure is indeed a cool one. Personally I would have preferred leg printing but it's still a very nice Minifigure Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I was not into this theme, but somehow seeing them all on clearance (1st wave) at Target/Walmart recently, I decided to pick them up. They look like more fun builds than I expected. I'm also using Tremor's torso/legs as new Space Police I am creating..we'll see how that works out. Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 A clear safe would be chosen by any "collector" intended to show display his precious items Some transparent materials can be very resistant True. But the design of the safe and the fact that there's gold in it makes it seem more like a vault than a sort of "display case," so to speak. I mean, if I wanted to stash my gold somewhere, I wouldn't want to put it in a see-through box. That all being said, it's a nice design. I love how even the little scenery pieces have a wonderful attention to detail. That's probably one of my favorite parts of this line: the design aspect. Quote

I think they wanted to make the "gold pieces" visible, just a sort of "play feature" The attention to details in the recent Lego sets is truly impressive Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 (edited) Having seen several video reviews of the 2 large sets in this wave (Ultra Copter & Stealth Patrol), I have to give a slight edge to the Stealth Patrol set. In Canada, the Ultra Copter set is $99.99. It features a great model in the copter itself. However, there are a couple of minor nit picks for me. I think that the set suffers from being not the best proposition, value wise. It could have benefited greatly from another 125 pieces or so which could have beefed up Anti Matter's vehicle or dealt with my other nit pick about the copter. The other nitpick I have with it is the large empty gap in the center of the copter. Now, there is a play feature in there with the grappling hook accessory, but I think it would have been much better if that large area contained, say, a deployable drone or a small flyer for the agents. To me with this set, they should have either lowered the price point or given more pieces for the price. At $70 - $75, it would be a great set. At $99 with another 125 pieces or so, it would be a great set. Even at a higher price point with more pieces it would be a great set. But from where I stand, the set does not quite hit the mark given its price point. Stealth Patrol on the other hand, at $59.99 is a good set even if the parts count is a bit light for the price. You get 4 minifigs with a nice assortment of accessories including an Elite Agent. You also get 3 buildable items: P.U.P., the mech and the 4X4. All are good models and the 4X4 has many useful and interesting play features. I personally like it when Lego does the "Playset" models that have several elements in them (Invisible is also like this) as I think it represents good value for money. If I had to rank the sets, I would go 1) Stealth Patrol 2) Ultra Copter 3) Invisible Gold Robbery 4) Spyclops and 5) Drillex. My son has a Lego store Gift card and will wants to use it on Stealth Partrol and Spyclops. I think he made a decent call! Has anyone had a chance to use the App Brick Gadgets with the App Game? How do they work and do they make the gaming experience more interesting? Edited March 8, 2015 by TPLSTER21 Quote
M'Kyuun Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I love the Tron vibe these sets have throughout. I bought and built the Invizable set yesterday, and that bike is cool. I also picked up the new Spyclops set; I liked the original Spyclops from Agents better. I have yet to build it, but I love mecha and walkers, so it was a no-brainer gotta-have-it set. I would have liked to pick up the Ultracopter set, but TRU had it marked up significantly, so I may wait until double VIP points time and get it then. As an aside, my wife and I watch Ninjago, and I was surprised to see Invizable show up in the recent season premier. Nice crossover/ recycling there. Quote

Am I the only one who find the UA vehicles a bit "S.H.I.E.L.D." styled? Btw I like walkers too so I bought Spyclops without even thinking about it. Beside it is also very cheap for a Lego set and so it was indeed a "no-brainer". It is awaiting to be built since January, though. More sets than available time Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Am I the only one who find the UA vehicles a bit "S.H.I.E.L.D." styled? I can see that. Maybe not for the cinematic universe, but definitely for a more comic book style. Anywho, built the UltraCopter. Looks fantastic. The opposite spinning rotors are clearly the biggest draw to the set (well, maybe aside from Antimatter). The other functions aren't too spectacular. The flip-out side guns don't really do much for me, and the winch system isn't so great either. Antimatter's little hover disk is actually cooler than I expected. It's sleek and it looks nice with its gunmetal and purple. Also nice that it almost looks to be part of Antimatter. It flows well with the minifig's design, so I don't feel the need to remove him if I want to mess around with the figure. Antimatter alone is fantastic. Not sure if he outranks Invizable as my favorite, but he's cool and well designed. I was also surprised to see he had a GitD head. That's neat. Quote
BrickSev Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I can see that. Maybe not for the cinematic universe, but definitely for a more comic book style. Well they wouldn't be so "out of style" even in the cinematic universe. The "hover/STOVL" tech is a signature of cinematic universe SHIELD vehicles, then add the black color, the uniforms ranging from the "Federal Agent" suits to the "armors". The only thing they lack is the "flesh" look, since licensed Minifigures have the flesh and not the yellow color Quote
Bricknblue Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Tron 3 is being filmed this fall so LEGO had pretty good timing with the last of the line of awesome vehicles that look like a mix of Tron and comic bookish. Quote

M'Kyuun Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Hopefully, via their already good relationship with Disney, Tron sets will become a reality. Official Tron figs and vehicles would be awesome. However, I like the Agents line, and would like to see them venture into space at some point. I'd also love to see LEGO make a base for both good guys and bad, replete with all the cliche booby traps, barriers, etc one would expect. The base sets thus far haven't had that kind of playability. A base/building set with obstacles to overcome to get to a particular goal, whether it be to steal tech, rescue a hostage, install a virus, sabotage a vehicle, capture the bad guy, etc, would be a lot of fun, IMO, if done well. It is truly a shame that Volcano Base has spoiled those of us who were around when the first Lego Agents came out. Then we wouldn't be so stingy about Anti-Matter's hideout. To be honest, the Anti-Matter Hideout was a surprise to me at first. Oil rigs have never been all too appealing to Lego's target audience (if I'm remembering the Lego City Coast Guard one correctly) yet here we are. Don't get me wrong though, for what it is, it's goal is accomplished. It also has some excellent space on it's deck for some sweet battle scenes, should the imagination allow. Also, a giant portal of dark matter stuff has been a long time coming, especially for those of us who played Lego Universe. Edited March 11, 2015 by Penkid11 Quote
DraikNova Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I like Antimatter's hideout, and it looks more substantial than I initially thought and, as one of the people who got Inferno's Volcano Base, better than the aforementioned Inferno's too. Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Also, a giant portal of dark matter stuff has been a long time coming, especially for those of us who played Lego Universe. Oh my gosh. Antimatter is the second coming of the Maelstrom. This is canon. This is totally canon. Quote
