vitreolum Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Had a hard time making the rockwork on this one as I didn't have a single cheese at disposal. Quote
-Horizon- Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Nice Job, I really like everything about it. You did a great job here Vit. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Awesome MOC, vitreolum! I love the door design! Quote
TenorPenny Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Great work with no cheese slopes..! The hinge-work on the door is particularly well done. Quote
Balthazar Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Nicely done! I like how you did the doors, fireplace and closet! Quote
Venkefedo Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 That spilled drink! Great build all around. Reminds me a bit of many Dwarven taverns in WoW, which is something I wanna try building someday. Good stuff! Quote
EvilEnderman Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Looks really good - love the rockwork and foliage, great attention to detail! No cheese slopes reminds me of a monty python sketch Great work! Quote
vitreolum Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Thanks! @EvilEnderman Yeah, that was a great sketch and a real "Cheeseclopedia" @Venkefedo Indeed, I even wanted to use some drunken dwarfs at first, but the short legs and bulky beards wouldn't allow me to pose them as I wanted. Captain Braunsfeld Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Great stuff. Especially, I like the door - and the other details! Quote
mccoyed Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Awesome tavern. Rockwork turned out good, nice use of space, and those stairs are so clean and awesome that I'm going to have to replicate the technique myself! I'm going to be doing a somewhat smaller tavern scene pretty soon for LoR. I hope you don't mind if I draw a little inspiration from here. Quote
Spud The Viking Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Gorgeous! Nice use of those Indiana Jones whips by the way! Quote
ManInATopHat Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Fantastic build! Really cool concept. Nice rockwork as well. This could definitely be improved by a cool sign on the door, but I can see you're a purist so a custom sign wouldn't really suit your work. Edited August 18, 2014 by ManInATopHat Quote
Gary The Procrastinator Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Wonderful, clean build with a lot of detail. The rocks are fine, the composition is top-notch. Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Excellent job, really like the 'underground' idea! It's interesting though that the doors almost look like door exteriors... which is not something I'm critiquing, because it does add to the build aesthetically, but almost makes it look like instead of going outside your going inside upon exiting. And for not having cheese at your disposal, the rockwork turned out really well! Quote
songwm Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Good. I think the rock work is still nice. Quote
Legogal Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Wow! The place looks so inviting! Did the fellow on the left collapse because he was drunk or due to food poisoning? I would definitely want to know before spending much time there! The oven is a masterpiece. And the furniture is also perfect. Congrats on a fine build! Quote
Phoxtane Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I like how the guy in the middle has dislocated both of his shoulders for the sake of hand gestures to illustrate his well-articulated (but drunken) point! Quote
Venkefedo Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 @Venkefedo Indeed, I even wanted to use some drunken dwarfs at first, but the short legs and bulky beards wouldn't allow me to pose them as I wanted. It's getting easier every year to spruce up the Dwarven ranks with figures friendlier to posing: more printed-beard heads in yellow and flesh, shorter, less obtrusive beards like Dwalin's, Santa/Fisherman, and Wiley Fusebot's (plus the upcoming CMF12 Prospector), BrickFortress articulated short legs... I adore the Fantasy dwarves, but was late getting on board because of how limiting the beards & legs were. It's getting better, tho! Anyhow, glad you had similar initial thoughts! It's a really fun build, dwarves or not Quote
vitreolum Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks a lot everyone, glad you like it! @mccoyed Go right ahead. :) Quote
