Lord-Vorahk Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I mentioned in brief during the 2015 Rumours and Discussion thread that I am currently involved in a Bionicle based D&D campaign, run via Skype and Roll20, based in a loose approximation of the pre-Toa Mata MU, and there were some rumblings of interest. So far, we've been playing a party of Toa, and it's gone moderately well. However, it's been hindered by the fact that, while Bionicle's setting, characters, and lore are perfectly suited to RPGs, our party has little grasp of the Bionicle mythos beyond what they can find on a quick BS01 search. Still, we've got through five of the nine planned adventures with only one death, and with relatively good gameplay. Of course, once the positive reactions started to appear, I decided to see if there is anyone here on EB interested in playing this? THere are a few things to address concerning this: 1) The rules need reworking. The game was built for D&D second edition rules, which the DM has now noticed the limitations of, and has resulted in pretty limiting rules with elemental powers, the most apparent being the limited amount of energy charges each character has. Put it this way, burning up all of your elemental reserves with a Nova Blast in this setting would probably melt a house, nothing more. He is currently looking at adapting them to run off third or fourth edition rules, which would create a much better system for characters with elemental powers and reasonable skills with a weapon. 2) Our DM would not be running it. He's going to Oxford university in September, and thus won't have time to run two campaigns, and he has a commitment to the group we're currently running with. Now, it could all collapse (We have three competant players. The fourth acts like an idiot every time he gets tired of his character, so they can be killed off, the fifth never shows up), but optimisitically, it won't. So we'd need to find a new DM to run it. Still, these hurdles are rather small in comparison, and all that leaves is the main question: Is anyone interested in this? Quote
