Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Hey Guys I've made my own modification (backwall) for the tower of orthanc. I've used the pictures from the one, user Missing Brick made about a year ago. I've created the whole tower in digital designer. If somebody is interested, I can share it with you :) also: has somebody else made this in ldd? Cheers Vortex Quote
konig78 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I just bought the tower and I'm really interested in modifying it. I will take a look on the modification you mentioned ! I let you know soon. Quote
Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 As soon as possible I'll upload pics or / and the LDD-file (I'm at work now)... BTW: I've copied all the parts needed beside the tower, so it's easy to make a list of the bricks you'll need to buy. maybe I'll change a few things (it would also be nice, if the tower gains a bit of addictional height) Quote
Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 yup, mine looks basicly the same. nice work you've done!! btw: did you build it in LDD also? Quote
Missing Brick Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Nope. I did it the old fashioned way. Quote
Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 really cool! =) For me it was nescessary, because the 10237 is the only set i own beside some of the architecture-series. So I have to know, which bricks I have... I saw your creation and that blew me away. the idea with the stairs is just awesome! So I've used your pictures as a guide to rebuild it. these bricks (picture) are new to the set, am I right? Can you buy it as a single brick somewhere? Quote
Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 humm, I can't link the picture, because I don't have a flickr-account. They talk about these new bricks in this video Quote
Missing Brick Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 You mean the gothic arches? If I remember correctly they use 8 in the model - 6 on the windows of the potion room and 2 somewhere else internally. So you can just substitute the internal ones to provide the 8 arches needed for the complete 4-wall exterior. Quote
Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 yup, exactly! Thanks for your help! =) Quote
TheRedViper Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Missing brick, how much did it cost to get the pieces for the 4th side? Quote
konig78 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 The fourth side is simply fantastic. I would really like to add it to my new tower!! Quote
Lancethecat Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I like how you were able to use the new side you built to connect all of the floors. Could you take a few pictures of the back side's exterior when attached to the model? Quote
Missing Brick Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Lance, if you click thru to my flickr you can find a number of pictures that show how it all slots together. RedViper, I had alot of the parts already but black parts are generally quite cheap. I remember I got the long curved slopes for a ridiculously cheap price like 2p each or something. Vortex Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 hey guys this is the LDD file of what I've got so far http://www78.zippyshare.com/v/58352456/file.html there's a lot of bricks on the floor... to one side all these, I've used which don't come with the set. to the other side the bricks which are left. It's not done yet, so maybe you guys can make it better. Thanks missing brick! =) Vortex Quote
Sean13114 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 That looks amazing! You made what sets never have, a back wall, and stairs leading to the next floor. I love it! Quote
hanchueh Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 My sister just finished building this, and we're exploring the possibility of adding a backwall. Can you upload the LDD file again? The link above already expired. Quote
Brickmem Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 I know this is an old Topic, and the user Vortex wasn't active here for 2 years. But i try it anyway: Has someone downloaded his .ldd file and can share it ? ^^ Quote
