badbob001 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Is anyone collecting certain Lego Movie sets for the future-urban vehicles? Specifically, the sets with police vehicles: I may be mistaken, but I don't think Lego has released sets concerning a future-setting on earth. They have space sets, mech sets, and secret agent sets, but those are usually too wacky to easily fit into a town environment. But I can totally see Lego Movie police vehicles fitting in and reminds me of future-setting movies such as Bladerunner or Akira. And these police vehicles are somewhat militaristic in design and allows Lego to design those type of vehicles without violating their ban on "modern" military vehicles outside of a licensed line. I hope more similar vehicles will be produced (like the twin propeller copter + chopper). I can't wait to build these sets and have them patrol my modular buildings block. Quote
SMC Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 yes I am collecting all the police vehicles in part because they do fit into space/sci fi. Alien Conquest was set on earth too Quote
TheLegGodt Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I have emmet racing down my main street and the police hover car is hovering over the skynline. Not because I wanted to have a futuristic look but because I simply love mixing seemingly unrelated sets into a coherent layout. Just like the Lego Movie! Quote
Colossus Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) Some of the Ultra Agents sets contain builds you may be interested in. For example, the Inferno set contains a car that strongly resembles a spinner from the movie Blade Runner. Also, one of the older Agents sets from a couple years ago contains a helicopter that looks to be the base for The Lego Movie's Copper Chopper. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of that set. CrazyDalton777 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 The flying police cars would look good on a Back To The Future 2015 MOC. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Alien Conquest, Agents and Ultra Agents all have some good options for not too over the top future terrestrial vehicles. Some of the Superhero sets as well. The Quinjet and the XMen plane are good examples you could use for a near future airport scene. With no inherent silliness or spacey ness. Quote
badbob001 Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 My main train of thought regarding future-urban was to take existing town sets and futurize them. So I can easily imagine the police sets futurized into the Lego Movie police versions. Naturally, fire trucks will be next to be futurized. And then perhaps delivery trucks can be replace with this non-real set: I'm not into construction vehicles, but this could be an extreme replacement for them: Now if LEGO decides to create Futurama sets, then that would be cool in the retro-future sense. obsidianheart Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I've just been rebuilding them in orange and black for my Agents villains. Quote

Is that the Octan Delivery ship from The LEGO Movie? Quote

Captain Settle Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 The flying police cars would look good on a Back To The Future 2015 MOC. If we don't have flying cars next year I'm going to be very disappointed. Quote
