I just ordered from one seller a complete Benny Minifig and a Complete Samurai X minifig from Battle of Ninjago City from bricklink. The total cost with shipping came to 48 dollars. This was the only seller to have both minifigures in stock. Did I overpay for them?

That's mostly up to you. If you wanted them bad enough, then maybe that cost is acceptable to you. I can't speak on ninjago stuff, but assuming Benny would come out to half or $24, I think that might be much. I probably would have bought Benny's spaceship and parted out the things I didn't need. With that said, Benny's spaceship is an awesome set and worth getting.

I prefer to buy from Bricklink rather than Ebay. Seeing as how Benny is exclusive to the two most expensive Lego Movie sets and the 2014 Samurai X is exclusive to Battle for Ninjago City. I feel the price I paid isn't really that bad all things considered. I'm not going to ask for my money back. Next time around I'll wait and try to get the lowest prices for exclusive Minifigures.

Another vote for BrickLink over eBay. Or at the very least always checking there first.

I started on BL by looking elsewhere when only able to get a pair of Lime Green Technic Liftarms (43857, 1x2 Thick) for £1.99 on eBay. Ended up with eight of them brand-new from BrickLink for £1.20.

Coming specifically back to minifigs, I find it even better still. Particularly with the series; buying only from reputable sellers who haven't opened up the packets beyond small cuts to identify the minifig. Too many 'Used' items sold as 'New', and too many knock-offs, on eBay for my liking.

I adopted a policy that someone at Brickworld introduced me to: never buy a minifigure over $10, no matter the figure. End of story. :P

Whether you overpaid or not is up to you. Personally, I feel you overpaid, because the real question you have to ask yourself is "do I really need them?", but then again, that's just me.

It seems this has been answered by a lot of people with a recurrent theme.

I'd also be in the camp that you overpaid, just based on market value. Shipping can add up depending on where you order from, but shouldn't be more than $3 for one figure (at least based on my selling of figures on amazon.)

You always want to order from as few of sellers as possible to save on shipping, but some stores may have a higher cost to certain pieces and it negates all savings.

Either way, I like looking at Bricklink for actual value and then I get on eBay and try to win auctions for less than I could get them elsewhere. Win-win for me.

$24 for any minifigure seems pretty ridiculous, especially if it's in a set that hasn't even been discontinued yet. You can get Benny and his spaceship (Spaceship, SPACESHIP!) for the price of four Benny figures at your local retailer. I would wholeheartedly recommend doing that instead.

Looking at current eBay and Bricklink listings for either item, you could have paid as little as $26 CAD ($23.75 USD) for the both of them before shipping.13.gif
