G2lego Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Hello all. My name is Ben and I'm a 38-year-old, '2014 vintage' AFOL whose dark ages came to a fairly sudden end in January/February. This was through a combination of seeing the LEGO Movie with my 6-year-old daughter, her getting into LEGO other than 'Friends', and my parents getting my Classic Space LEGO out for her to play with at their house. It has proved to be a fantastic way to spend quality time together, but has also sucked me back into building on my own! :) Including the old pieces mentioned above (now meticulously logged on BrickSet and Rebrickable, of course) I think we're approaching the 40,000 piece mark and obsessive sorting, re-sorting, creating and managing Wanted Lists on BrickLink - and constantly trying to find better storage methods - have taken up a great deal of my free time in the last six months. My piano and Xbox have been looking very unloved. Having purchased 7879 'Hoth Echo Base', I quickly realised that playsets weren't my thing as it is the design and build phases that appeal to me. Consequently I have bought or Bricklinked numerous sets that are basically models (e.g. various sized Star Destroyers, other SW ships) as well as buying Modular Buildings. The latter are probably my main interest at the moment having bought all the ones still sold at S@H, the Fire Brigade BNSIB from eBay, and just this weekend finished my BrickLinked Green Grocer (all New parts with 1x8 Sand Green bricks). This last build reminded me that I had yet to post here, despite lurking for six months and having signed up almost two months ago! Finally, I am currently working on the following: a combined version of Swiss Ghostbusters' two HQ MOCs and an LDD rebuild of Christer Nyberg's 2010 Modular Madneess winning "Terrace Apartments/Barbershop", which I have also partly built with actual LEGO. I won't post that here without his permission though as he never released instructions. Anyway, I could go on (as you may have realised) but probably best for everyone if I don't! Great to be here properly at last and thanks for having me! I'll sign off by saying how in awe I am of the custom work displayed by Eurobricks members and what an inspiration it has been for me so far. :) Quote
