Alasdair Ryan Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hi guys, I am looking for some ideas on making a arm that will allow a truck ramp to up and down, the real problem is that it needs to work of a crank arm and there is not much space to work in. I did manage to get some movement but not all that I require. You need to join on to the black crank and link it to the actuator bracket Any help will be much appreciated. ramp.lxf Quote
Mark275 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Do you have a picture which shows how it should look? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Do you have a picture which shows how it should look? I don't have a finished picture, you are free to do as you like as long as uses the crank in the picture which links to the LA bracket. Quote
Mark275 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Something like this? If you turn the lowest gear they all turn and it folds out. (the fancy colours are for clarity ) Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Best Alasdair Ryan, Here is some design of Ralph S. Maybe it´s help you further. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 It is the ramps at the back I need help with not the crane. Something like this? If you turn the lowest gear they all turn and it folds out. (the fancy colours are for clarity ) I will try that, but it would of been better with some sort of arm linkage, thanks. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Sorry i did not read your post right . Quote

Bzroom Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Here's my version of the mechanism Mark was describing: Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Here's my version of the mechanism Mark was describing: I don't think your design is going to work that well, again some sort of linkage is the ideal solution. But thanks anyway. Quote
Bzroom Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I built one and it works pretty awesome, fun to play with. Try it out, you might be surprised. The only down side is that the gears are kind of large and out of scale, but some 8tooths should work just the same, as long as there is an even number. Quote
hknssn Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I made a basic prototype for the dubble folded truck ramp, see the video below. Not sure if it fit into your build but atleast its one way to do it :) Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 I have came up with a linkage myself that uses a rubber band which works well, but if any off you do have a solution to my problem then feel free to share. Quote
Mark275 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Great! I had an idea but didnt had the time to buils and test it. Would you show us where you came up with? Quote
