legoman19892 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Dear Users, Do you think it is silly when users post in this style on Eurobricks or in any other forum? I do. This is not the place for this format. I do not need your kind regards or for you to sign every post. It does not add to the discussion at all. You can quote people so other know who you are addressing and we know who you are because your name shows next to you posts anyways. The only upside to people who post like this is that they generally are very good at writing and I don't have to read their post several times to understand them. Sincerely, Legoman19892 Quote
m0dulo Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) The only upside to people who post like this is that they generally are very good at writing and I don't have to read their post several times to understand them. This is often true. I'd like to add that they not only write well, but they understand the importance of a well-written message. I do know what you mean about the introduction and closing signature, but it ends up acting the same as the forum signature block for me - eventually it becomes a graphical pattern that identifies who it is even if I don't read it over and over. For example, "Dear Users" and "If you were a pirate" eventually become something I recognize as "this message is written by Legoman19892." It eventually doesn't matter how people sign their message. I will still recognize the author. But I will always appreciate good grammar. :) Edited August 1, 2014 by m0dulo Quote
