!!! BREAKING NEWS !!!

We have a new forum for all customization related topics: Pirate LEGO Customs.

As the description says: Custom Pirate LEGO mini-figures, parts, sails, torso designs, decals and related graphics.

I've started to move all the topics related to customization from the Pirate LEGO MOCs-forum to our new Pirate LEGO Customs-forum.

If you think a thread needs to be moved to the customs forum, just put a link in this topic and we'll look into it.

I'm not entirely sure that the splitting of the customs and MOCs forums is absolutely needed. After all, torso designs would be considered to be My Own Creation would they not? Would not custom weapons be considered My Own Creation? Just wondering...

Lately there's been an explosion in custom torso designs so we want to encourage this further by special creating a forum, but customs isn't limited to torso designs they include parts, sails, torso designs, decals and related graphics.

I'll attempt to provide a definition:

A MOC is a complete creation while a custom is a creation that is can be used with a larger creation. So a custom weapon by itself would belong in the Pirate LEGO Customs forum. Then later someone could use the custom weapon as part their own MOC.

Does that make sense?

Can't believe how brilliant this is! From previous comments I had a hint that this was on the horizon...

Wonderful work crew! Rum for all! Okay, that's irresponsible... Rootbeer for the kids!

Oh that's right, I've got things to do this afternoon. Darn...

The pirate mods have been trying to make a description of a CUSTOM.

So we all know what belongs into the new Pirate LEGO Customs forum.

Here it is:

A creation that is "self-made" and can be used in combination with official Lego, or modified official LEGO parts (like modified cutlasses, painted parts, custom bayonets for muskets, torso decals, modified body parts). Also discussions about "Customs" should be done in the Pirate LEGO Customs forum.

It's not perfect, but I hope the idea behind it is clear.

Perhaps you should also tell everybody what is NOT considered a custom and why.

Well, a MOC (like a ship) that contains some custom minifigs or custom parts is considered a MOC.

In the Custom's forum, the focus should be on the actual custom part(s).

But I think it will be clear by now for everyone ;-)

And what of Custom Cannons? What did you did you decide about those?

We decided that the name "Custom Cannons" is incorrect. It should be "MOC Cannons".

I'm refering to the kind of cannons we have in the INDEX: Cannon MOCs.

So they belong in our Pirate LEGO MOCs forum.

Thanks for the update Mr Bonaparte, it seems the Customs Forum is doing quite nicely at the moment.

Indeed, the Customs Forum had a successful start.

It's also nice to see all those custom figs appear on MOCs.

Did you know we already have approximately 600 torso's in our torso library?

On a similar note, I did a count and I have contributed 134 of these torsos.

And that's why you are our " Chief Torso Designer" ;-)
