jodawill Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 First off, I apologize if there's a recent discussion on this. I wasn't able to find a recent discussion on the topic and the Eurobricks search said, "The following search terms are not allowed and were removed from your query: rcx, mac." I'm looking for an RCX 2.0 compiler and driver for OS X. I don't have any Windows computers, which isn't very convenient when dealing with the RCX, apparently. Is there anything out there that still works in the latest version of OS X, preferably something similar to C that doesn't use Java? (I probably won't have enough options to be picky though.) Thanks! TechnicHead41 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 what version of OSX do you need it for ? Have you heard of MacNqc ???? Try google it... Quote
ALittleSlow Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) jodawill, I found MacNQC downloads on the Wayback machine: https://web.archive....m/rbate/MacNQC/ I just wrote a quick article on MacNQC on Brickwiki, hopefully to save the next person some of the frustration you're having. Let me know how things go and I'll update the article. Or better yet, you can update it. Edited July 21, 2014 by ALittleSlow Quote
jodawill Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Thanks for the info, guys. Unfortunately, it seems that I won't be able to run MacNQC because it's a PowerPC application, which is no longer supported. I installed Windows XP in VirtualBox. I haven't yet had a chance to check whether the driver will work in the virtual machine. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Quote
ALittleSlow Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Have you looked at the NeXT Command Center? Quote
jodawill Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Yeah. It's outdated and won't run anymore. Quote
ALittleSlow Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 If your PC VM doesn't work out, maybe try a PowerPC emulator? Quote
jodawill Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Thankfully, XP recognized the tower just as it would an unknown device if I wasn't using a VM. But Bricx is giving me an error message saying it can't connect to the RCX. I think I have to install an additional driver. I'm looking for that now. I found it by searching Google for rcxdriver.zip. www.4shared.com/get/yDlPktK-/rcxdriver.html Success! Quote
