Ah, nope! But you'd have to imagine those soldiers have those beautiful metal-colored helms that they do in the sets (if they don't I'll be really pissed). And the skellies will hopefully all have the scythes...I love those pieces, and would be pissed if they gave the pawns all maces or something |-/

Interesting. I'm curious as to what the Skeleton Queen might look like. Oh, and if yer lookin, the Viking Chess set is on clearance for US/Canadian buyers. And I mean DIRT CHEAP!!! 50% off on one of the best army builders ever conceived.

Hmm, for some reason I thought that TLC would forgo a chess set this year since so many of the smaller sets can be used as army builders already. Unless the chess set includes unique figures, I think I'll wait for it to go on sale.

Still, the chess sets must have been selling well enough for TLC to bother to pursue the concept, which is good.

I looked at the pic in the Lego retail catalog add on for the end of year ;-) I don't remember much but I'll be nexy to that store tomorrow night so I'll try to get as many info as I can for you guys ;-)

I think these things a really overpriced and i never need the amount of minifigs in these chess sets, for my projects. I think they might be overdoing it.

Actually these sets are amazing, you never get so many figs per dollar. I think it even outdoes the battle packs and old-time figure packs.

The only thing I don't like are the glued rooks, etc. I just hope they don't make a brick-built "knight" since all things considering that would be pretty stupid :-P

I agree, for someone who wargames and builds with his lego, The more figs the better. even better if they are uniformed. Nothing like seeing 30 viking berserkers all in blue or red coming towards the enemy! :P can't wait for the knights. thinking about picking up more vikings too LOL

I just bought the Viking Chess at 50% off. I've already played a couple games and converted the ranks to Imperial Soldiers vs. undead pirates. X-D

However I'm unsure whether this one will do me any good.....

Of course. But you know, one might always forget. And I was fearing that the discussion would have been lost, this is turning into a sort of topic for the Chess sets. If my behaviour was foolish, I apologize.

I only own the first one, from KK. It's a good set, with a sheer number of figs, enough to start a battle. The box is fantastic too. I skipped the Viking one because I didn't have the money back then and I wasn't really interested in having more Viking figs. But I'm definately going to buy this! 8 more soldiers (the Pawns) for each faction, Queens for each kingdom, a skellie King (I wonder if he's the Dark Wizard or a skellie..), 2 more knights (the Bishops) for each faction...then there are the Knights and the Rooks. I wonder how they'lllook like, since the can also work as things to decorate the two castles.
