Modelmaker Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 The newest building in my city is a museum, but this museum is all about the local history. The building itself is a bit boring but that's because all the money has gone on the exhibits inside. The sign on the roof gives a clue about whats on show inside.. A walk around the back reveals a vintage helicopter mounted on the roof and some weird old windows When we open the door we get a view of whats on offer inside.. Finally we get to see all the old dusty exhibits. That's 40 years of history on display inside and maybe one day the exhibits will be on display in a much bigger and grander museum, but for now this little boring building will have to do Quote
SSJ2 Dark Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I really like the concept of building a LEGO museum with LEGO! The vehicles on display look great, maybe you could add ropes and/or tiling for a visitor walkway through the museum? Some of those elements look like they've seen a lot of play; not sure if you're better off cleaning them, or letting the dust tell a good story! Quote
TheLegGodt Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Absolutely love this! What a great way to incorporate (and store!) all your old models and parts into your city layout. I might one day copy your idea with all the spares and old stuff I have! Quote
gazumpty Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 this is a great concept....i love the incorporation of 'classic' Lego builds as display features....brilliant!! Quote
JopieK Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 and next MOC will be a LEGO version of this: http://practicalfrugalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/picture0261.jpg ?! :) Quote

These sets have been officially retired from playtime for over 20 years now they've earned their rest so i'll let the dust do the talking. There's a lot more sets so the museum is saving up to pay for an extension. and next MOC will be a LEGO version of this: http://practicalfrug...picture0261.jpg ?! :) ARGH!! NO! keep the pickers away, they're only in it for the money not the love Quote
cgarison Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Great Work! I have been wanting to build one of these for some time! Edit: After giving this some thought, you need an "American Pickers" Antique Archeology van parked outside the building. They would love to get their hands on that old Lego "Petroliana." Pop Bumper Pete Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Ha, I had had a similar idea to do this, even with the oversized figure on the roof though I would not have gone and made the building out of old bricks Nice work Quote
