ocifant Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hi, just emerging from my Dark Ages, and tacklng the Palace Theatre to ease me back in! I've opened all the '1' bags so far, and have almost completed the first book of instructions, but I've found about 8 1x1 grey bricks are missing, with the usual few extra pieces (mainly 1x1 tiles and plates) left over. I haven't opened the ''2' and '3' bags as yet. Now, this hasn't hampered my build yet - I have a box of parts from other sets that I can dip into in such situations, but I just wondered if it was usual to have so many pieces missing? Are they likely to be in the other bags? I can imagine Quality Control may miss 1 or 2 on a weight basis with the extra pieces included, but 8? I'd appreciate others' thoughts on this. I *will* be contacting Lego support for their feedback, but probably not until after I've completed the entire model - assuming no further pieces are missing and I actually can complete it! Quote
JopieK Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 "8 1x1 grey bricks are missing" that is very strange... one would expect the balances they use to pick that up indeed. indeed contact LEGO and they will help you out. My wife has the set and no parts were missing. Quote
Withacee Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Well, it's not impossible, but very unlikely, having 8 bricks missing. Are you sure the cat didn't flick them under the refrigerator? I've never had any missing pieces with any Lego set I bought. And I have a lot of them, including almost all modulars. There is a service at the Lego site, where you can order missing pieces from a set at no cost. Build the model first, though. https://service.lego.com/nl-nl/replacementparts Type in your age and country and choose "My new set has a missing piece". Quote
Zed_43 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 It is very unlikely but it could happen in rare case. In facts, each bags are weighted at the end of the chain production to check if there are too much or not enough bricks... So 8 1x1 bricks seems a bit heavy to be not detected... But you know, one day, my brother bought a rc train and the rc controller was missing in the box!!! Quote
ocifant Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 Thanks all. I decanted all the pieces from the bag into a storage box, and sorted from there into smaller containers before starting the build. I don't pre-count pieces, but grab as I go. I'm fairly sure I would have noticed 8 pieces on the floor!! :-) I'll be sorting the '2' bags tonight and starting on the second level - here's hoping I was just unlucky! I'll tot up and contact Lego at the end of the entire build.. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 It can be frustrating having pieces missing, especially from a new build. It has happened to me before, so I understand. Although, it also has happened to me where I thought I was missing some pieces and got replacements to finish building and by the time I was done I somehow had extras leftover that normally wouldn't have been leftover. So mistakes do happen on everyone's part. Best of luck in finding the pieces OR securing pieces to finish building. Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Search again the set, bags...I am sure it is hidding somewhere Quote
