iamded Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I was lookin' at these castle sets last night, and I started of thinking what would be next. I had a few ideas. Battering Ram Soldiers have set out to destroy the pesky skeleton barricade. Includes 2 human soldiers, skeleton soldier with skelorse, skeleton barricade* and armoured battering ram. *Like the one in Knight's Catapult Defence, only bigger. Knight's Siege Tower The humans have set out to attack the skeletons with this massive Seige Tower. Includes 4 human soldiers, 2 skeleton soldiers, skeleton knight with skelorse, and armoured 2 storey Siege Tower. Has 'windows' that can be opened to fire arrows out, ladders to climb up the tower and firing arrow (based on the Crossbow Attack design) Soldier's Outpost The soldiers keep a look out for enemies from the top of this outpost tower. Includes 2 human soldiers, 2 skeleton soldiers and tall tower standing on four legs with ladder that can be pulled up. (Extendible ladder from firetruck used) Dragon's Den The black dragon lurks in it's cave. Will the dark wizard put it under his control? Includes black dragon*, evil wizard, and cave setting**. *Dragon would be primarily black, with red eyes and some dark red. **Cave would be interior based, without a roof. Mainly using Burps on a base plate, platforms and ladders around the walls. Include various bone pieces with original skulls, and gems + coins. Dark Stronghold The base of operations for the evil skeleton army and the dark wizard. Includes Dark Wizard, 2 liches (skeleton mages) 3 skeleton troops and a skeleton knight. 2 skelorses. Typical evil castle design, using loads of 'bone' pieces and lightning pieces. Skeleton Battle-pack Bolster your skeleton army with this troop battle-pack! Includes 2 skelorses, 5 skeletons, skeleton knight. 2 skeletons have helmets, 1 with lich gear (hood and cape). 2 lightning pieces (for the liches), skeleton sword, flail, and double sided viking axe. Skeleton knight similar to the one in The Final Joust set. Crown Knights Battle-pack Bolster your royal army with this troop battle-pack! Includes 2 horses with saddles, one with head armour, 5 soldiers and human knight. 2 axes, 2 swords, 2 spears and silver sword. Human knight similar to the one in The Final Joust set. Note these are just ideas, basically what I would love to see released. :-P Let me know what you guys think, and whot you would like to see. :-D *skull* Quote
natelite Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I like to see future themes or sets based on medieval adventurers instead. Sort of like D&D type. Maybe have like 4 main characters comprising a druid/shaman, ranger, warrior/swordsman, thief party out questing in some location. So for sets you could have: 1. rosary inn tavern - comprising a tavern - with a few tauruses (or minotaurs) or orcs and maybe a mystic meg soothsayer where they were supposed to get their quests from. 2. battle at the keep - comprising an evil undead knight on a dragon. A large tall tower with fortified castle walls. Undead minions and goblins (reuse the molds from HP) battling the heroes. 3. maiden rescue - comprising a large cavenous hideout (kinda like the forestman fortress but made from rocks) complete with the wolf pack marauders (about 4-5 with various weapons and armory - maybe even a wolfman champion) and your heroes. 4. raid of the basilisk - comprising a large "basilisk" (reuse the creature ridden by obi during the general grevious chase), a small cart, and your heroes (hey, you need a small $10 set for your army building :-P) 5. defense of the drogoba village - comprising one or two blackmith buildings, a few peasants, 3-4 evil forestmen, and your heroes. You might not need all 4 heroes in all sets but the theme would center on these chars much like your johnny thunder story. Maybe expand it so that you have 6 heroes (include a wizard and a barbarian). Having such a theme would be great for both afols and kiddies alike. You have your stories for the kids and enough variation in the sets for the afols to collect (eg, get lots of forestmen sets to make your forestmen army, etc). Quote
Athos Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I think a Dwarven Mine would be a good set. Steve Quote
Wout Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 A little farm with peasants/farmers, a skeleton who attacks them and a knight who protects them. Or a farmers battle pack, with 2 different males, 2 different females, a boy, a girl, a horse with farm equipment and some stuff they can use (2 of that thing from eighties sets which is to pick up straw) Quote
BearHeart Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I'd like a small village ( 2 or 3 cottages,a few peasants ) being attacked by a green dragon... and and maybe a group of rangers trying to defeat him. Quote
hewkii9 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Skeletal Outpost. White, sort of bony, 3 skellies, stable for 2 skelehorses, and 2 Crownies and a Crownie battering ram. Quote
Berry Syedow Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I was lookin' at these castle sets last night, and I started of thinking what would be next. I had a few ideas.Battering Ram Soldier's Outpost Dark Stronghold Skeleton Battle-pack Crown Knights Battle-pack I like these ideas of yours the most. I think they'd also be easy to execute, especially the castle battle packs (maybe with a few adjustments). Some sort of outpost would be interesting, though. It's one of those pieces of history that TLC hasn't really fleshed out (that or the set stunk), along with cogs, and peasant life. I don't really see peasants making an entrance in this castle theme since it seems to be centered on epic battles of good vs. evil (like the last theme), but with better execution, so far. In the skeleton battle pack, I'd also like to see one or two "normal" skeletons to allow for some variety. Quote
Asuka Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Everything with some civilians in it would be very nice for me.... although this is very unlikely to happen.... A castle setup without some real living is just plain tiresome after a while.... there Quote
Khorne Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Village people on! *y* Y M C A !Someone had to do it :-P . Seriously, I think the likely sets Lego would produce would be those of iamded. Village stuff just doesn't appeal to kids :-/ . Quote
iamded Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 Thanks KhorNe. I thought of the sets they had already released, and based my set ideas so you would be able to have all the siege weapons. Then I tried to include a civilian in all the 2nd set ideas, to bolster you villager force. Added some pitchforks too. Angry mob ON! :-P Quote
Wout Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Seriously, I think the likely sets Lego would produce would be those of iamded. Village stuff just doesn't appeal to kids :-/ . Well, if you put a skelly in it to attack the peasant and a soldier to protect them, it would maybe more appealing. Quote
Norrington Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 What I would like to see: Town Market -------------------- $30.00 -------------------- After a rough day of slaughteing skeletons, decapitating forestmen, and neutering dragons, avery knight likes to go to the town market and get drunk! First stop is the weapons and jewel stores, to sell or but jems and weapons! Then off to the Goblin's Head Tavern to drink until you pass out! Whatever happens, it's up to you! Includes: 2 knights, 2 stalls and vendors, tavern, and misc. coins, jewels and weapons Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 I would love to see some village sets (various buildings like the Blacksmith Shop, Guarded Inn, etc.) These types of sets really add a great City element to the Castle theme. Quote

Norrington Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 :-D Somehow, I don't think Lego would consider this. Something about morals... :-/ :-P Screw morals! If TLC beleived in morals, they would have dumped BIONICLE years ago ;-) Quote
Shakar Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Screw morals! If TLC beleived in morals, they would have dumped BIONICLE years ago ;-) Lego doesn't believe in morals, they believe in the fact that Bionicle and SW make a lot of money. ;) Lego next year should make: -A huge fortress of the skeletons, kinda like the King's castle this year-big enough, good design, with four walls and not particularly complicated rooms. Basically, a classic style castle. -Battle packs, one for the skellies and one for the Crown Knights. Skellie ones would include: one white skellie, one black skellie, one white skellie with horse, one black skellie with horse and one skeleton knight (kinda like the one in the Joust set). But since Lego can't make minifigs packs you would have to inclde something to make it a battle pack. Maybe a battle ram, or a catapult. Also, many weapons: maces, skellie swords, circular shields, ovoid shileds, axes, some crossbows too. Crown Knights ones would include: one soldier with neck protector helmet, one soldier with broad brim, two knights (like the ones in Skeletons' Prison Carriage and Skeletons' Tower) and a knight like the one in the Joust set. Again, you'd have to include a catapult or a ram, or...what about a weapons cart? Again, various weapons: lances, swords, greatswords, triangular shields, ovoid shields, axes, maces, some quivers and crossbows. That's all for now. Shakar Quote
The Kid Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Lego can't make minifigs packs Actually, that's just Star Wars because Hasbro has the action figure license. :-) TK Quote
Shakar Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 (edited) Yep, that's what I meant. Their minifigs packs need to be "disguised" as something other, like in cases of the Chess Sets and of the Battle Packs. Shakar Edited June 8, 2007 by Shakar Quote
iamded Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 Hmmm, clever, although I don't see why Lego doesn't just make army builder sets. I think a ram should be a separate set, and the 'battle-packs' should have weapon racks, loaded with weapons, and protective barricades/shield walls. Possibly with mounted crossbow 'turret'. Quote
SkaForHire Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Hmmm, clever, although I don't see why Lego doesn't just make army builder sets. I think a ram should be a separate set, and the 'battle-packs' should have weapon racks, loaded with weapons, and protective barricades/shield walls. Possibly with mounted crossbow 'turret'. Well a good army builder right now while it is on sale is viking chess (for those who want a viking army) 24 dollars for 24 figures (not including the horse helmets and blocks that are rooks lol) i just bought two wish i could buy more.... I suppose if we wait long enough we may see this with new castle, and eventually there will be a sale on those too! :P I really hope they do some christmas time sets... the way they keep pumping out exo-force... i can't even keep up with that theme anymore, and now that they have the new castle.... i stopped collecting exo-force... I just bolstered my undead army today with a couple more of the the bone carriages.... and i bought a battle at the pass because i wanted one before they disappeared... man i wish i would have just bought two more bone mobiles! knights with no pants vrs skeletons = no contest. anyway... A set i would really like to see in this new theme would be a graveyard where the necromancer/evil mage is doing his recruiting. It would come with a small "crusade" of three knights that would try to stop him. Quote
iamded Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 A Graveyard... why didn't anyone think of that? Great idea SkaForHire. *y* Quote
blueandwhite Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Honestly, I'm tired of the generic "good vs. evil" castle thing. I mean, we've seen it with KKI, KKII, and now with the new Castle line. Not every set needs to be a fortification. Instead of another flagship castle as the top set, how about a village? If you want action, the set could be built around a seige or raid with various villagers and soldiers fighting off some hord of skeles. It would be a great way to introduce more variety into a world that is pretty much only inhabited by soldiers and skeletons. Quote
Shakar Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Blueandwhite...that's a brilliant idea! It could add some variation to the characters, while retaining the "good vs evil" thing kids want in a set. Shakar Quote
