TheItalianBrick Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Simply epic!! My only concern is about the missed differential between the tho XL motors! But again.....love it!!! Any issues with all those LEDS? Quote

jantjeuh Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) has anyone made it in other colour apart from red and black im.thinking of orange. You're going to have to substitute a LOT of parts if you want to build this beauty in orange. I have all the parts for a black version, just need to find some spare time now. Kumbbl Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Eric, thank you for this review (and of course also for making BI). Just bought them on mocplans. They Look very professional and easy to follow... One question though: i'm planning using only One lipo battery box (simply because i have just One ;-) and also just one receiver, a V2 one. Is it possible with One V2 to power simultaneously 2 XL and 1 servo? And do you think there is any Place for a second pole reverser for driving the convertible roof, e.g. Between the seats or somewhere well hidden in the rear section of the car? Thank you in advance for some hints... Edited August 26, 2014 by Kumbbl Quote

If you want to use only one receiver and one battery, I'd eliminate the LED lights and use the existing pole reverser for the convertible top instead. Then the wiring changes would not be very big. 8275 drove 2 XL motors off one receiver, but not on the same channel. I think you will get low performance from this configuration, but it should work. kamsohal Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 hi ive paid the $20 fee via paypal.buy theres nothing to say about the instructions. how can you save the instructions? Quote
Polo-Freak Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 go to the Homepage (mocplans) Login go to purchased instructions in the upper right Menu and that it :-) Quote
Kumbbl Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 how can you save the instructions? You can't - these BI can only be viewed within mocplans. Sure, you could make a screenshot from every page, save them all as png files and combine later all into One PDF. Work pretty well but it is a boring work. And you would lose the good zooming functionality of mocplans... Quote
__________________________ Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Could it be geared up even higher (at the expense of some torque and acceleration)? With a 40-tooth gear and a 12-tooth gear? Quote
Blakbird Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Could it be geared up even higher (at the expense of some torque and acceleration)? With a 40-tooth gear and a 12-tooth gear? It has to be a bevel gear so a 40 tooth wouldn't work. I wouldn't recommend any higher gearing anyway. Quote

Would it be much faster if I dropped 1 of the 8878 batteries? And would I lose any power to the motors? Also, how compatible with SBricks would this be? Is it true that 8878 batteries provide less power to the motors than the standard 6X AA battery? Also, does this have a functional steering wheel (if not, could I MOD one in)? And would it be possible to motorize (with speed control) the front wipers? Edited September 17, 2014 by TheLegoExpert Quote
Blakbird Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Would it be much faster if I dropped 1 of the 8878 batteries? And would I lose any power to the motors? ?????? How could it be faster with fewer batteries? It would certainly be slower. Also, how compatible with SBricks would this be? That cannot be answered since SBrick doesn't exist yet. I don't see any reason you couldn't use it. Is it true that 8878 batteries provide less power to the motors than the standard 6X AA battery? No. They have the same current limit. Also, does this have a functional steering wheel (if not, could I MOD one in)? Yes. And would it be possible to motorize (with speed control) the front wipers? Anything is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. There is no windshield so there is nothing to wipe. Quote

Maybe this is the model of brunojj himself? AFAIK he is a german guy ;-) Hah, collecting parts is a big part of the fun. Hmmm.... ;-) Quote
t12ung Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Anyone know if there would be any issues replacing the IR receivers with SBrick? Has anyone tried doing this yet? Quote

Other than that it´s impolite to bump old topics, I have to say this here, even if this topic is about my MOC. I´ll answer your question anyway: I didn´t try Sbrick on this model myself and don´t know if somebody else did. But you can replace the IR receivers with SBrick without any issues regarding the needed space or performance of the model. Some slight impovisation is needed to cover the top with smooth bricks or something. The issues which could bother you, are related with the SBrick itself, its software, the device you are using and the right settings. Good luck with it and have fun! @moderators: I´m not really happy that Blakbirds pictures aren´t shown anymore, but the Lego Expert´s marvels do somehow in every post ... Quote

Thank you for your reply brunojj1. Your MOC is indeed very excellent and the very reason why I've decided to pick up 'Lego Mania' as a hobby. As I'm quite new to it all, it surely will be a challenge to gather the necessary pieces in order to be able to complete this MOC. Although this is an old topic, I'm surprised there isn't more discussion about it. I'm sure this will be a classic for among MOCs for a long time! If I ever managed to make a start on this, I hope I'll be able to share my experience with using SBrick on this project :) About the pictures not showing up anymore... this can simply be fixed by changing the host of the image links in the OP fromhttp://54.213.90.68/ to http://bricksafe.com/ (it's very back to link to an IP address) Quote

You can't edit BBcode any more and you can't change the old picture locations. I had to manually re-insert each picture. Quote

I just thought that after the recent reorganizing of the website the pictures were kind of lost. Modern software is supposed to do everything easier, but sometimes it does the opposite... The Lego Experts´s "marvels" are still showing up as huge signatures, I don´t really care, but it seems there is still some work to do for the programmers. Sorry, I didn´t want to cause you any trouble, thank you again for helping us ignorant amateurs ! Quote
