VintageLegoEra Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) HI All, Well,,,,I have this set New Sealed and i decided to build it...was very happy to Un-box it and check the contents and suddenly i was and still SHOCKED of 1 item in the Sealed poly bag..Yes..all the bags are sealed and no sign of defect seal.... And here is the photos of the big Shock..... *oh2* I guess you know the big mistake Lego did....They included the Red Indian Horse instead of Normal White Horse... I checked the box again and the sealed poly bags and no way it was opened before or the seller just Glued it...The set was in Perfect Factory seal...So this is 100% a Manufacturing defect.... I really got upset as now i have to order a new white horse ( which of course already did! ) So ,,,any one had this unique issue before? or anyone has different strange things in this set?? This is my first time in my life to see such a crazy thing. Among my all sets , i never had a wrong/missing parts except for this one!. Thanks and looking forward for your comments and feedback! Regards Edited July 11, 2014 by VintageLegoEra Quote
Alfadas Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I almost never had a problem like that, just in a Viking set a piece was missing. Luckily I had a ton of those pieces, so it wasn't a big problem. This, a completely different horse, I never had something like that. Quote

What i will do know is to build the set and see if it has any other strange things like: missing parts.....This is really Annoying!! Edited July 11, 2014 by VintageLegoEra Quote
Slobey Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I remember that this was a common packaging mistake with this set. A lot of people reported this at the time. Quote
ED-209 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 That is so strange! I've had a couple of sets over the years that have had a part missing or damaged, but it's very rare. And nothing like this with some random other part instead! Quote

kibosh Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Yes, this happened to me back in the day, too. I believe LEGO sent out replacement horses back then. Quote
1974 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Complain to CS, I'm sure it'll put a smile on their face and you'll probably get a new (yes, not old) horse to boot I got that set, that is 6067, in 1986. I was _devasteted_ to see one of the newfangled arches was mismolded There's a mistake on the box (front pic), have you spotted it? Quote
plew2000 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Wow that horse is probably worth more than the white ones Quote
DuckBricks Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I would have been happy to get that horse instead ;) but I agree, it is always frustrating when TLG makes a mistake... Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Indeed it is a frustrating... Anyway, this horse is for sale if anyone is interested. ..:-) Quote
Hammerhand Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Never had that happen, although I've had missing pieces. If I recall correctly, the skeleton head on the POTC Queen Anne's Revenge was varied in different sets, as some had a regular skeleton head and others had the un-dead one from the fantasy era Castle line. The main missing piece experience that I've had was that I was missing the roof pieces from the 2007 Batman Arkham Asylum, which are very large, main, pieces. At that time, I didn't know that you could complain and get the pieces, so I never got them. I wonder what they'd do if I complained now... Quote

TheLegoDr Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 ^They'd probably apologize, since I doubt those pieces would be available anymore to send out. Quote

Lool...it is true as it has been a long time now since this set was produces plus they are no more producing these types of horses, so i believe it is a closed case..heheh.. i have ordered the correct Horse from BL and it is on the way,,,,so i will be ok :).... But imagine those collectors ( i am one of them ) will always be in fear as they dont know what their vintage sets are hiding for them ;) Edited July 12, 2014 by VintageLegoEra Quote
The_Cook Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 That TLG manage to get so many small parts right 99.999% of the time is really quite amazing given the millions of individual parts that they package on a daily basis. I believe that it's all done with very sophisticated and sensitive scales to check that each bag weighs exactly the right amount. However the one thing that the scales can't check is the colour, someone must have put a box of printed horses into the packing line instead of a box of white horses. Quote

1974 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 That's how it's done now, but this set is quite old. I'll see if I can get an answer Quote

gotoAndLego Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Provided you don't open the bags, some Lego fan will pay top dollar for that error. See what you can get for it and buy a regular version of that set. Quote

VintageLegoEra Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 How many bags in that set? Someone wants to know http://www.bricklink...2988&nID=836355 Cheers, Ole I am going to make a Thread of this set once the correct horse arrives..heheh They are total of 5 bags ( 3 big and 2 small) + 2 plates Quote
The Brick Rat Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I remember this. TLG actually realized the error before they shipped this set out and included the correct horse in the box (I don't remember if it was bagged by itself or came loose in box). You might want to check your box again just in case you missed it. Quote
