Duq Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Railbricks issue 15 is available for download from railbricks.com. The Power Functions and Arduino article continues, there are reviews of the new train sets and an interview with the designers. Quote
eurotrash Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 It's an excellent resource. I look forward to reading it later. Quote
Man with a hat Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks for the info. I am always looking forward to a new Railbricks issue. There are always some very interesting articles. Quote
cei Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Nice to see the reviews in there, especially of the new Passenger Train (as it's the only new wave set I haven't picked up yet). I found the designer interview quite interesting, but he started to sound like a PR mouthpiece in the final page of questions (the ones related to third party track, introduction of trackside equipment/individual carriages etc) which was a bit disappointing to say the least. codefox421 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 here is the Arduino source + video http://leguano.nl/?p=1542 Here I thought this issue would contain your RFID article, but I misread your other post. Silly me. Can't wait until the next issue! Quote
dr_spock Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Cool to see ashivalkoinen and his FLIRTs featured. Quote

Dav1d Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I found the designer interview quite interesting, but he started to sound like a PR mouthpiece in the final page of questions (the ones related to third party track, introduction of trackside equipment/individual carriages etc) which was a bit disappointing to say the least. As they are LEGO employees I expected them to be a PR mouthpiece and give very little away. Maybe I'm reading more into it, but when asked if PF trains and flex track were a success they did not say Yes, but said 'in general they have been a success' to me that is not very positive. They do admit it is challenging to produce a small train - will they take on that challenge? Admitting that it is a challenge to communicate to their target age group - 6 year old children - how to play with PF components, is an interesting comment, do they mean that for 6 year olds, PF is too complex? It was disappointed that they say there will be no new track elements, when they changed to plastic track we were told it would make it easier to produce new geometries. I can understand their comments about a City steam train. Finally it was interesting that they have not ruled out individual train cars; which has been the normal response to such questions. Quote
