SandMirror38 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hi all, Just a quick question, I heard about the man not being aloud to enter Legoland which aroused this problem... Me and my family plan to go to Legoland California but we're all above the age of 13, the youngest is 13 turning 14 and could easily pass as a kid yet we're staying at the hotel so they will see the age... What should I do? Should we just not do anything or talk to them about it before we go there -October- and bend the rule? Thanks, Sand Quote
bjorkan Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I don' get it, you must be 13 to enter Legoland? I can not believe it... Quote
SandMirror38 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 well on tickets an adult is 13 up, he qualifies as adult now but adults arn't aloud to enter without children... Am i looking into this too much?? Quote
Speedboat Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 If I remember correctly, this only applies to the Legoland Discovery Centers, not the Legoland franchise locations in general. Quote
meschepers Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 My wife and I went to LEGOLAND in Florida a few years ago with no troubles. We didn't have any kids with us. Quote
RTZX9R Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Been to LL Florida multiple times with my wife (and no kids at all). Never had any issues. I think the case was only at a LL Discovery center. Quote
Alpinemaps Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I live a few minutes away from Legoland California. I'm there all the time. 99% of the time, it's with my 6 year old or 2 year old. However, I've gone plenty of times without them. They don't bat an eye. The problem you heard about was a Legoland Discovery Center. To give you a little more confidence, I was just there last Monday (June 30). I had the day off from work, and was there to buy a couple of things. But because I'm usually there with my kids, there are a couple of roller coasters that I've gotten to ride (either the kids are too small, or too scared to ride). So I took advantage of being there by myself, and rode them. It wasn't an issue. Most of the time, when I go by myself, I'm there to shop. So I might be going into The Big Store, or I go to one of the small stores. They have a Pick-A-Brick store, as well. I've been known to hang out there, looking for parts for my MOCs. Again, no issues being there by myself. Quote
BirdOPrey5 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Only the discovery centers bar adults because let's face it, the only reason an adult would want to go is to abduct or abuse children. (Not my opinion, Lego's opinion.) Quote
Faefrost Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Who is Merlin? Merlin is the amusement park company that TLG sold the parks to back in 2003 or so. They operate a large number of parks worldwide including California's Knotts Berry Farms. Lego has nothing to do with the direct operation of the parks or their pricing. I think at best they retained some small minority stake? Quote
Cara Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 If you have minifigures you don't want - any age or condition - take them with you. Legoland California employees have minifigures on their badges and lanyards. You can swap with them. They had a lot of simpson figures when we were there earlier this year. Quote
Legogal Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Great advice! It took me a visit to each of the six LL parks before I figured this one out. So do stockpile your unwanted minifigs and trade them for the ones you want while there. It is easy to do most of the time, and you will be much happier with ones you like. But do check their value on Bricklink before trading them in case any are quite valuable and should be traded for something more expensive. And entering a Park without a child is no problem. I have not taken a child with me yet. Does anyone know where she can get a two for one coupon for the Park? Enjoy your stay! Quote

Do they have to be CMF? Also thanks everyone for clearing up that :) Quote
Lyichir Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Awesome! Do they have to be CMF? Also thanks everyone for clearing up that :) From my experience at Legoland Florida, they do not have to be CMFs. Unfortunately, that does mean that the one you trade FOR might not be a CMF—it might very well be a mismatched fig that the employee already traded for that day. Still, if you're trading a fig you don't want or need it can be worth the gamble! Quote
