So I had an idea about a small change to the rules. Hopefully it's OK to suggest it here.

At the moment building on your home planet is not only pointless but almost penalised, since you lose the opportunity for your build to contribute domination points somewhere else. So what if you got 25% (or whatever) extra resources when you build on your home planet? For example, a 4 point build would get 40+10 resources.

This would encourage home planet builds and makes sense thematically, since resource extraction would likely be easier and more efficient on your home planet.

That's actually a great idea! I highly aprove!

I kind of like that idea!

This would be kind of cool, especially since the home planets are awesomnium planets and it would give us an opportunity to build more advanced buildings. However, it would make your home planet even more of a target for other corporations (unless your home planet can shift when conquered (if this were the case, would we need to exclude rare resource planets from being a home planet and gaining this bonus?))

I'd also suggest a DP bonus for building "at home". I mean, it would just stand to reason that defending your home planet would be easier than some place you are conquering. Something like +1 DP for builds on your own corp's home planet.

I don't think any corps are going to fight over home planets since they can't be dominated by an invading force. MANTIS have nothing to fear from us!

I just went over the Planets and Player's sheet... and now I have a question. Since domination points are granted on Homeworld planets.... would it be possible to wipe an entire faction off the map?! *huh*:distressed:

~Insectoid Aristocrat

That may be a possibility, but if that ever happens, we'll surely invent something to save all those players :classic:

Other factions can dominate Homeworlds as normal, I think. They just don't get a reward on control.

That said, to do so would be some serious Moral Event Horizon, Ender's Game level shit.

I have a question. How would collaborative builds be scored as weekly builds (or as challenge builds) or should they be avoided?

The reason I'm asking is because my brother and I could make builds together often, but I don't know if that would be too much to score and allocate points or something.

Would a collaborative build be essentially scored twice? Or should we just avoid it altogether?

So I'm quite enjoying being an Alien, not tied to any corporation and just sabotaging stuff.

But the game itself is pretty much geared towards building for your corporation: the personal upgrades you can buy with your credits are all made to boost your corporation's gain from a build.

I do realize I'm the only one that is only alien at this time, so I can't ask for too much, but do you think there's any possibility to make some personal equipments for aliens' personal gain as well? Maybe something that increases the damage you can do when you sabotage, as per an idea that Commander Turtle posted the other day, or some alien emblem that can be earned by aliens?

This is not something that has to be decided on quickly you know, there's not many alien builds yet and I do realize the game is about the corporations and their domination of Andromeda.

Just wondering what's possible and/or maybe other people have thoughts on this as well.

Sounds like a good idea to me, especially since it might encourage more alien players :classic:

I'd certainly agree with that! Can't have too many Alien builders! I mean... the game needs someone to play the good guys.

Tag sounds readily doable. Other equipment would be fun too! As there's not much of a chance for you to share credits, I think it may be advantageous for Alien equipment to be rather on the cheap side. :classic:

Maybe the Domination for Dummies and the Art of Space War could basically be another domination point that you can take away. Then you could have an alien tag too :)

Oops I was sure I added the alien tag to the equipment list :look:

Having alien tech tree or equipments is something that was discussed long before the launch. I didn't wanted to have a 4th corp, but we'll think on how to boost alien participation.

And we already have things planned...

Excellent, now I have something to save up for :D

Other than that, I realize the game is about the corporations and not the aliens, so I'll continue to try to cause some incidental damage here and there and I'll see what you've got planned for the future.

Are there plans for any breaks during the game where there aren't weekly deadlines running and builders can just build if they want to? Otherwise you might turn some of us who also play GoH into zombies by trying to do AG and the Nocturnus Civil war.

AG has already turned me into a Zombie... :look: A MoC building Zombie!

There is no weekly build requirement for AG. It is all optional. I would really hate to base AG's schedule around another RBG because not everyone will be a member of that other RBG. We have people in here who do SoNE and AG but not GoH. And some that do GoH and AG but not SoNE. Trying to accommodate everyone's schedule will make things pretty challenging. I think the game just moves on and when you are able to participate you can.

I don't think we need to base it around another RBG, but I do wonder if the weekly pace is kind of burning a lot of people out--I know that it kind of is for me.

As fun as it is participating, I also feel a lot of pressure to put up a build each week. Not pressure from my corp, or anyone in it, but from myself not wanting to let a week go by without contributing to my team, especially since I know MANTIS is smallest. Even as I have been moving to a new house, I have been putting up my Pick-A-Brick builds just to make sure I am helping as best I can. The rest of my bricks--once I get them unpacked--are in various stages of unsorted because there isn't really time to thoroughly re-sort after the previous week's build.

I am not trying to complain, but I wonder if others feel kind of the same.

If that's the case, and lots of participants feel like they struggle to keep up with the game, maybe we could slow the pace down a bit (perhaps after the Scramble for Andromeda is over)? Maybe have a one-week moratorium each month, or switch to every-other-week builds instead?

At the same time, I realize that the pace keeps enthusiasm going, and I wouldn't want slowing the game down to cause people to lose interest. But it might be nice every now and again to have a week where we--everyone--can take a break without our corp being penalized for it.

Wouldn't you like that, too, judges? (nudge, nudge  )

^^I agree with this. I am having a blast with this game and everyone involved with creating it has done an awesome job! I also have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. My time is somewhat limited. I don't want to miss a week for the same reason Rodiziorobs just explained. I am usually scrambling on Sunday to get something together in time. If builds were bi weekly I would be able create a more interesting builds. The main downside I see to bi-weekly builds are there might be less interest as people would have to wait longer to advance the game.
