Wout Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Lego has a massive stand!!! I'm already jealous :'-( :-D Have fun :-) Quote
JoeMI6 Posted July 13, 2007 Author Posted July 13, 2007 We sure shall do. Anyone else going this weekend? It looks like it's going to be a damn awesome day (or days lol) for those getting a chance to go. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 On the eve of the geekist day of my life, I feel very very excited. We'll bring you coverage from our Saturday visit, hopefully with a little something different from what we normally get on the forum. And no, not those pesky Megabloks. :-P Quote
mutley777 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Well it is all over now and i have to say i was a little disappointed. There was a real lack of things to do but buy star wars merchandise. The lego stand was not selling (a huge missed opportunity) and nobody else was really selling lego. The queues for everthing were just crazy! Over all i am glad i went but i don't feel that i would have missed a big thing if i had not. So *vader* i hope you head is not hurting to much from you stag weekend but you did not miss to much :-D . Quote
The Kid Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Well, we set off around 8:50 and caught a train to Waterloo. We then got the Underground to Canning Town. Here's the fun bit: Since there was so many people going to CE, and the platform was crowded as @!*%, they brought out another train - just for people who were going to CE! :-D So we got that, and arrived at ExCel - my oh my. The queue stretched through to the other side of the building, down the steps and into the car park - which it looped a few times. However, it was moving quickly and only took ~45 mins. So, we arrived in there. We circled it once to begin with. The LEGO section was good; I saw the AT-AT and the Falcons (plus the MTT up close, yay!). The Mos Lego thing was amazing - both halves. I also met a guy called James Sutton, who apparently helps to run FBTB? At the Brickish Association booth there was an ambassador who was showing off a cool little red robot he'd built to a kid. Again, Mos Lego was truly stunning. I especially liked Jar-Jar getting his come-uppance at the hands of Maul and either Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan ;-) After we'd visited the Autograph booths (didn't get any though :-() I noticed someone giving out Play.com/LucasArts bags. I got one and found a bunch of cool stuff inside. I was surprised it was all free; there was a poster, 10 "Medallionz" (ROTS), a numbered typed reprint of what looks like a George Lucas memo from 1977 (it was 1553 of 3000), some catalogs, a preview of the SW Vault and some other bits and bobs. I bought some of the SW Clone Wars Top Trumps and the USA only SW Top Trumps from 2003. Sadly though, I didn't buy anything else. Missed oppurtunity I suppose; I wanted a T-Shirt. :'-( Ah well. All in all, a good day. TK P.S. My skills on Guitar Hero II at the 360 booth also won me T-Shirts. :-D :-D Quote
Brainbox Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I caught a report of the spectacle on Richard & Judy yesterday (no, I don't watch it). It looked to be quite a good time. Anyway, the presenter of the report, Danny Wallace, bought a small Vader minifig statue built from Lego, and got Dave Prowse to sign it. It's being auctioned off for Build Africa, and I just thought I should bring it to your attention. It's not a maquette, btw, but an actual statue built from bricks. Anyway, details can be found here. JoeMI6 Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 We had a fantastic day, and here is a link to my flickr with photos of the fun we had on the day. It was uber geeky, but we didn't care, we just reveled in it. I hope that everyone else who went had as good a day as we did. Quote
