Fabulandlover Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Hi all :), I hope it is OK to open a topic to show my City-sets. They are small and there not much sets, but they are nice sets and builds tough. My favorite is the TV-crew The Lego-set numbers are: 6504, 6506, 6523, 6613, 6634, 6643, 6659, 6827 Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Neat little collection except your fire fighter is missing his helmet.......Brick On 'Fabulandlover' ! Quote
MECHALEX Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Nice flashback! I remember my brother and I poring over the details of the TV truck when it came out. I think we were struck by the narrow headlights, and what a difference it made. Funny to compare to the bristling details of modern 6-wide vehicles with their contours and curves. I'm not complaining - just nice to be reminded how much Lego has evolved! Edited July 3, 2014 by MECHALEX Quote
Fabulandlover Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Neat little collection except your fire fighter is missing his helmet.......Brick On 'Fabulandlover' ! Sadly, yes . Maybe I will find it back in a box with other old childhood stuff. Nice flashback! True! But I think that the TV truck is still quite modern. I also found my big gray baseplate and road plates back. Hooray! jaumeBCN Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I openly prefer those vintage sets over what they make now (BTW, for me a minifig car is 4 brick wide 1 or 2 seater and a scale of 1:43) Quote
beeman101 Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Love them. Especially the tv crew and the phone booth...Used to have something similar to the tv crew but lost those bricks somehow Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 An antique vintage set. Just Awesome. Bringing back memories as I had these but all have been lost due yo my child instance....:-) Quote
Doom2099 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Ah, great memories! Always fun to flashback like this. Quote
dr_spock Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Good old 4 wides. Do you still build 4 wide? Quote
Fabulandlover Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Since I have bought the Grand Emporium, I am officially out of my dark ages :D I have almost completed the first book, and I love building it. Woohoo! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Welcome back to the light of the brick 'Fabulandlover'.......Brick On ! Quote
Fabulandlover Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 So here is my review of the Grand Emporium! The first I thought when the box arrived: What a big box! I have never had, let alone seen, such a big box like this. Wow. When I opened the box (very carefully off course) I saw how many bricks there were. So.many.bricks. After unpacking and opening the bags with number 1, I could begin with building! Instructions were clear (allthough I was fooled twice with dark grey/black), I could follow them easily. Building the Grand Emporium was the first time I built a big set. And a advanced one at that as well. When I began unpacking the box, I wondered if the build would be difficult for me. Since it was a big and advanced set and since it has been at least 15 years that I had been creative with Lego, I feared a little bit if I would succeed. But I needn't to worry: within 3 or 4 hours I had completed the first book with instructions. It all went well and I was having fun! During the next two days I had fun with building the rest of the set. Not many parts were left over, but I am going to keep them anyway. You never know! The minifigures are really nice! All in all I am very happy that I have bought and build the Grand Emporium and I know for sure that Pet Shop, Palace Cinema and the Parisian Restaurant will be welcome additions as well. And sometime I going to bricklink Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Town Hall and Fire Brigade. But what do I hear? I hear we have to go immediately live for some breaking news! Let's see what is going on! Reporter: "Yes indeed, FabulandLover. We are here live at the Grand Emporium, which shut for closing time about 30 minutes ago. Today was opening day for the shop, and we have talked with several people about the new addition to the town. At my side we have Gabrielle, the owner of the store. So, Gabrielle, tell me: how did the first day went by? Was it successful?" Gabrielle: "I have to say, the first day exceeded all expectations. Everything was awesome!" Reporter: "There was a lot of attention indeed! This is footage from earlier" Reporter: "We are now joined by a lively young boy. So tell me lad, what did you enjoy most in the shop?" Boy: "The ice cream!" Reporter: "Well, that is clear. We also asked other locals what they wanted most. Surprisingly the answer was a residential building or an apartment complex. Some entitlement going on here, I think." Reporter: "That was the latest news here, if there are any updates we will be live again. Back to you, Fabulandlover!" Quote
Fabulandlover Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 No, not yet ;) :D I have some windows and doors somewhere, so I can try to build a small house. But as I have other things to do, it might take a week or so before I can begin :( Quote
Nacho Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I picked up the TV crew a little while back. A fond memory from my childhood that I had to get again. Quote
Fabulandlover Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 In August I got the Pet Shop set. While from the outside not so impressive looking as the Grand Emporium, it was nice to build. The techniques to create the loo, the sofa and the bed are neat! The minifigures are lovely too :). Quote
Ron Dayes Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Really nice nostalgic feeling here. I had the firefighter set and also lost the helmet^^ i find the TV crew probably best of all, the design for a 4 wide is very advanced for that time compared to the other vehicles. it also contains a lot more special parts. Fabulandlover Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I love that car as well, it is really neat! About the Pet Shop, I do seem to have quite some leftovers.. Edited October 30, 2015 by Fabulandlover Quote
paul_delahaye Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 you should definately not have the following left over: 2 x 4 light grey tile, 1 x 4 light grey tile, 1 x 3 light grey tile, 1 x 2 light grey tile, 1 x 2 dark grey tile, 1 x 4 dark grey plate, Then I'm surprised you have a green 3 stem plant base left over, I think you should maybe only have 1 of the 3 4 leave yellow flowers left over, I could be wrong on this one. The other parts are common left overs, I'd look back through my instructions, 1 piece at a time comparing it to the finished model, checking whether you have used the piece each time it is required. This is the fun part of building. I always end up with a few left over on the big sets when I've skipped steps! Not a bad set, the pet shop. Quote
Sven F Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Cool, I can't wait for the news report on the pet shop, that was funny. btw. i agree with Paul there, you missed some steps, those larger pieces aren't leftovers. Quote
Fabulandlover Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Today I bought set 10702, to get bricks in the non-standard Lego colours and a door and two windows. I am currently trying to create something myself, a small snackbar with a few tables outside, surrounded with some greenery and a playgarden. Or perhaps something more city square like, so I can place my modulars around it (at the end of the month I can buy the Parisian restaurant!). In the set there are also wheels included, so perhaps I am going to try my hand at building a car or bus (I have to admit I have no idea how!). Quote
Fabulandlover Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Last week I got the Parisian Restaurant and small house that doubles as a pencil pot. Will post reviews with everyone´s favourite reporter soon :) Quote
Zork Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 I can only agree - a lot of childhood memories. Funny thing is, some month ago I got my hands on a lot of those sets from the 80's and 90's. My conflict now, wether to choose the nostalgic way and build the cars 4-wide or 6-wide where you have more options in building. But that's an other thing which is often discussed at EB Quote
