Capt. Stabbin Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 My mother went to a garage sale recently and found this set and some other parts in a bag. When I opened the bag I was surprised to find this set in the bag complete with instructions and box! The best part was she only paid two dollars! After putting it together, I decided to make a updated version of it. Thanks for looking! C & C welcome! Quote
eurotrash Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Wow! I distinctly remember that front end of the 331 (though I don't recall that particular set) It seemed to be used on so many vehicles from that era. Those doors and grill were certainly iconic. As for the rework you've definitely captured the essence of the original and bought it bang up to date. Nice job! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Excellent design 'Capt. Stabbin'......Brick On in retro ! Quote
Bipin Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 A nice rendition of an old model, and an especially nice find at a garage sale! Those two trucks are akin to a father and son. Quote
grum64 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Very nice little models. The 331 reminds me very much of the old Sentinel Steam trucks and your 'modern day' remake is very much reminiscent of the Volvo F89. Quote
mkeller234 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 You hit the nail on the head. I like those double height doors a lot. I've never seen them before. I wish Lego would use something like that door on the modern truck sets. Quote
alois Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 It's interesting that this truck originally was on a scale larger than the scale the future minifigs would be using. But nowadays minifig trucks have grown even bigger than this. Quote
