Oran Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Here is a pickup, toy hauler camper, and a toy. The below picture shows the slide outs outside the toy hauler, I changed the rear end of the toy hauler so the rear design has been changed, larger windows added, and black rims. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Great RV trailer 'Oran'......Brick On ! Quote
droomangroup Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) very nice! i like it. my only crit is i think you should make the front of the trailer taller since most 5th wheelers have that shape of a taller front area over the bedroom/hitch area, even if it's only a 1 brick increase i think it would be more realistic. also check out my RV project, i used the 1 brick tall wall pieces on the inside top of the slide out to stop it from falling out, that way you can position them almost all the way out of the sides instead of having to keep 1 stud inside to use your 1x1 slopes as stops --> http://imgur.com/gallery/CmIgy/ just an idea, you're method definitely does the trick. brick on, drew Edited June 23, 2014 by droomangroup Quote
Oran Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Well I guess it is a matter of opinion on the roof because I have seen both but I went with the style shown here: On the non toy hauler ones I have done this: Thank you for the hint on the slide outs but the customers who have bought previous builds have liked the way I did it so I have just kept on doing it. I did like your techniques on your RF. Well done! Quote
droomangroup Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Well I guess it is a matter of opinion on the roof because I have seen both but I went with the style shown here: yeah i guess you're right. in my mind i was thinking more were of the slanted roof variety. Thank you for the hint on the slide outs but the customers who have bought previous builds have liked the way I did it so I have just kept on doing it. I did like your techniques on your RF. Well done! no worries, just throwing it out there. i'm curious why don't your slide outs have roofs? cheers drew Quote
Oran Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Hi Drew, Well you may not want to read all of this but you asked! Well the story sort of goes like this - I had a customer ask me to make a 5th wheel caravan camper, they sent me some pictures, and in my 60 something year old mind this is what happened. So I started in LDD and then I did the prototype in real brick. After I was done they decided not to buy it so I just listed the second or third prototype online and it sold. Another customer saw it and asked for one just like it and they just kept selling! Did you expect that for an answer? I think I did not post the actually beginnings but this was near the beginning of the story: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/361049 Somewhere around that time I tried it in real brick: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/360736 Then this one was requested and I sort of tried to make it ike the photos that I was sent, thought it was not exact, the customer did like it so I tried to build it. Not everything I do in LDD ends up the exact same way. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/374938 Then it turned out sort of like this: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/376912 Quote
droomangroup Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 i get it, they're selling, that's great. i just don't get why you don't put roofs on your slideouts. Quote
