Hi All,

On the long weekend June 7-9 my LUG "Brisbricks" held their annual Pine Rivers Lego expo at Strathpine in Brisbane.

so i dusted off the crawler course and set up for another busy long weekend.

I learnt a lot from our first expo in october last year and made a number of changes/improvements, they are

  • lowered the structure to a more kid friendly height, so instead of sitting on tables i set up the course on sturdy plastic crates that raise it up only 30cm from the ground.
  • built a "see-saw" to add a bit of excitement
  • piled up some pavers and rocks to make a high platform at the rear to drive over
  • built a new Lego bridge that was about 6 studs wider than the previous one to make it a bit easier to drive over (doesn't look as cool as Doc-Brown's though)
  • set up a queue system with entry and exit points with easy to follow signs.
  • put up Lego set and MOC info posters on the wall near the entry.

The layout I used this time made a more natural path so the kids drove the whole course without being shown.

Up the ramp, across the Lego bridge and wood/rope bridge, down the ramp, over the see saw, across the green bumps, over the rock/paver pile, around the raised orange path and back to the logs at the front.

Unfortunately Doc_brown couldn't make it this time so my wife, Emily and I ran it with 3 crawlers.

This show was not as busy as the one last October so 3 crawlers was just enough, i hope you can make it to the october show Doc.........

Massive thanks need to go to my wife, Emily, for helping me run the course for 3 days as well as setting up and packing up and to my LUG "Brisbricks" for supplying the batteries (235 AA's and 70 AAA's)

I hope i got the kids and parents talking about the Technic theme, but most importantly i think the kids had a lot of fun playing on our course, i know i did...

Cheers

Excellent job Ben! Fantastic design improvements.

I can only imagine how much more fun it would have been for the kids not to have to reach up high just to get a signal to the IR. hehe.

I think your bridge looks great! And being wider sure would have its benefits.

That seesaw looks like a lot of fun too, I bet it caused some great crashes!:devil:

Many thanks to Em for your help too!!! Only we know how darn hard it is to monitor a stand like this with kids crawling left right and center. haha

I'm very sorry I couldn't make it, I sure will be there in October tho!

How is thos L motors now?
