Kings Mountain Fortress was my first REAL Lego set. I vividly remember the night before Christmas, feeling like I was going to burst wide open, hoping that I would find that Lego set waiting for me. I loved this castle, everything about it. My mom made me a crusaders costume for the following halloween, complete with a working helmet. I have the sheild for that costume hanging in my basement still.

Anyway, to my dismay I found a whole lot of old grey castle pieces were missing when I dug my Lego bricks out. I wanted to build kings mountain fortress, but instead built (6086) Black Knights Castle instead. Last night I had an idea. Kings Mountain Fortress was not a huge set, I could probably build it again.....just maybe not in the right color.

I think the result is sort of interesting. I'm missing the door hinges, but overall, it comes through. Just pretend that it is made of sandstone that has blackened over the years. I had a really nice trip down memory lane following these instructions.

Totally different subject, my old bricks are disgusting.... I really need to clean them.

Kings Mountain Fortress was my first castle set and was always one of my favorites. I also found my old one the other day but have not had the patience to put it back together again... I have a feeling that quite a lot of the bricks will be missing if I try :(

Anyway, I like what you've done with yours!
