Hi All,

Please allow me to show my latest finished model. You may have seen it on some blogs but I would like to post it here as well.

This time not another big ship but back to my roots with a Caterpillar Rope Shovel.

It is based on my earlier Bucyrus but it is a completely new build. It is fully functional and is intended to be used in some sort of mining display at LW2014 in Utrecht the Netherlands.

Since I'm not much of a movie man there is no youtube material but trust me when I say it works.

Now some photos:

It is finished for a short while but I forgot to post it here since I'm already working on my next ship.

Amazing machine! I recently saw a video of a real one, those things humungous! It looks very realistic, i love how you did the doors for the "lower deck" :classic: You must be one busy man with all the huge MOC's you are coming up with!

impressive ! how long it took you to create it ?

I think it took me about 4 weeks. I had the most trouble with the brick build bearing. slewing did not go as smooth as I wanted. It is a lot better now but still not as smooth as I want it to be.

The bucket door closes automaticly by gravity. It is held in the closing position by a 3L axle with stud that is also pulled down behind a cheese slope by gravity when the bucket is almost at ground level. It is all very simple

Well I've got to do something with my time besides going to the gym.

Awesome shovel,I have added it to the Hall Of Fame. :sweet:

Thanks for adding it.

Can you please become a movie man?! I would love to see this beauty in action.

I will see what I can do.

And thanks for the other nice comments.

Beautiful, as always. Does this also has powered tracks...can it move properly? I imagine those tracks are under very heavy load.

What a beauty!, I like your work with machinery. Functionality for me is the most important part and I would like to see it work too. Thanks for show us these awesome machines.

Yes it has. But it will run best on a softer surface like a towel or carpet.

and thanks for the comments.
