Konajra Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Hi All, Please allow me to show my latest finished model. You may have seen it on some blogs but I would like to post it here as well. This time not another big ship but back to my roots with a Caterpillar Rope Shovel. It is based on my earlier Bucyrus but it is a completely new build. It is fully functional and is intended to be used in some sort of mining display at LW2014 in Utrecht the Netherlands. Since I'm not much of a movie man there is no youtube material but trust me when I say it works. Now some photos: Cat 7495 by Konajra, on Flickr Cat 7495 by Konajra, on Flickr Cat 7495 by Konajra, on Flickr Cat 7495 by Konajra, on Flickr Cat 7495 by Konajra, on Flickr And one during construction. Bucyrus or a caterpillar? by Konajra, on Flickr It is finished for a short while but I forgot to post it here since I'm already working on my next ship. Edited June 5, 2014 by Konajra Quote

Konajra Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 impressive ! how long it took you to create it ? I think it took me about 4 weeks. I had the most trouble with the brick build bearing. slewing did not go as smooth as I wanted. It is a lot better now but still not as smooth as I want it to be. Damn! That is fantastically awesome!! VIDEO! EDIT: How do you close the bucket? Also; love the little hand piece used for the hydraulig tube (?) The bucket door closes automaticly by gravity. It is held in the closing position by a 3L axle with stud that is also pulled down behind a cheese slope by gravity when the bucket is almost at ground level. It is all very simple Amazing machine!
