Paul B Technic Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Our cats seem to love my LEGO, any chance and they will be "helping me". Today I was trying to make a video of one of my creations, every time I started filming they would come and jump up in the way of the camera, in the end I took a video of them and then they were happy. Link to the video on my blog page below: http://paulstechnic.blogspot.com.au/2014/05/cats-and-lego.html Quote
rriggs Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 My cats are always fascinated by whatever elements I am working with and they both get very excited when I bring a brand new set home. Every stage from the box arriving, the box opening, the bags opened to the instructions and construction gives them a great deal of interest. It's quite sweet... However, it is also quite irritating when they decide to start knocking elements off the table or settle down on the instructions while I'm using them... Cheers Rog Quote
emilstorm Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I had a similar thing happen when I was sorting a huge pile of brick I bought on eBay. As much as I would love to see them pick up my hobby and start building with their little cat hands, I have to face reality and accept that they probably just want my attention or some food... The video didn't work on my iPad, but looking forward to seeing it later :) Quote

Mutant Orc Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 My cats sit on my pieces or on my instructions if they think I'm paying more attention to that than them. They get quite scatty as well at time and are darting about shouting pieces across my floor. another thing they love is rubbing against tall creations. If it happens to be a fragile WIP that's a bit annoying..! And of course they love the cardboard boxes that the sets are shipped in, y'know the big ones not the set ones. They sleep in them. It's quite amusing overall though. Quote
emilstorm Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I don't get cats sometimes. If you want to pet them on a normal day they just look at you with that "what do you think you are doing?" look on their faces, but as soon as you are focused on something else they get right in your face :) Quote
legoman19892 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 The last cat I had used to sit on the pieces when I had them on a pile on the floor. He is him taking a nap on my LEGO. Quote
Electricsteam Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) My cats love to knock over my builds of the shelves and tables :D It sure is fun having to rebuild the fire brigade TWICE in one week... Don't even get me started on the grand emporium... Edited May 19, 2014 by Electricsteam Quote
Lady K Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 My cat love those plastic rings off milk jugs. In deciding she needed a Lego toy I gave her a green triangle off the three leaf plants. She loves batting it across the hardwood floor and carrying it in her mouth. Last night I had to dig it out of a parts box where she had tossed it and lost it. :) Quote
JGW3000 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 My cats like to take small bits of debris, scraps of paper, small toys and stash them in the basement, I found several smaller Technic parts (bushing, pins, connectors) in their stash. Must be some sort of nocturnal ritual for them. Quote
ManInATopHat Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Aaww... Their tails are so fluffy! You should make a life size Lego dog or cat to confuse them! Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) Mine just likes to wreak havoc. He'll jump on my chair, rip that to bits, jump on to my city and then, for some odd reason, he'll bash minifigs around with his paws, swipe a few flags and rails with his tail, then he'll finally walk around, clear a spot, and fall asleep. I wonder what my minifigs do to him when I'm not around for him to mistreat them like that . The other thing he did, Lego wise, was to climb my shelves, brake them, fall off, and land on the Imperial Flagship, the 1000 piece plus version. You give him all the love and care in the world, and what does he do? He goes and finds the biggest thing to smash and drops an equally big thing to smash it with. Cats, I've never understood mine... Faefrost Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 My cat pretty much ignores all things Lego, except for the empty part bags. Something about the way they Krinkle drives him wild. He can't leave them alone and knocks over the garbage to get them. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 My cats get into LEGO. One of them used the 1000 basic brick container for a litter box. Must always put the lid back on the box. Other cat likes to run off with the pieces. They also like to get into the video camera. Quote
Mikuri Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 My cats love to watch me build anything. But one of them likes to chew on them and that makes me mad è.é Quote
antp Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I made a similar topic a few years ago: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48198 My cats are older now, but they haven't changed much, they still love to try to steal parts or play with the empty boxes while I build sets... Quote
iamwhoiam Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 My Cat usually ignores my Lego, and me when I'm building it, however, if I've been building for a few hours, sometimes she tries to get my attention. Quote
