Dr Leg O Brick Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) "So, have a seat my friend! The crowd's getting restless." "What crowd?" "That one." "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I'm Vic Fontaine. And tonight is going to be a gas. Hit it Nanook." So, as you may have guessed, I'm a big DS9 fan. The kind people write psychology papers on. Suffice to say, it's my favourite Star Trek series, and it has influenced me greatly in life. So what better way to show my fondness for the show by making some Lego minifigs of (most) of the main crew? The starfleet uniforms I acquired off the internet, so credit goes to those who made these designs in the first place. Captain Benjamin Sisko Jake Sisko Major Kira Nerys (I guess you could say Colonel as well, but I based all my figures on their Season 6 appearances) Constable Odo Elim Garak. Plain, simple, Garak, the tailor... Dr Julian Bashir (still working on his head, any suggestions would be great!) Chief Miles O'Brien Lt. Commander Worf Lt. Commander Jadzia Dax Hard to see, I spent an hour pencilling Dax's spots on. Quark. An extreme work in progress in regards to the lobes, hence no other Ferengi's in my post. Does anybody know if the lobes detach of the Kreo one? And if they do, do they attach to a minifigure? Vic Fontaine The whole crew Various group shots: Father and Son Kira and Odo Dax and Worf And...don't forget the Redshirts! Ready to be shot, stabbed, vaporized, beheaded, blown to bits, thrown over cliffs, run over, blown into space, cooked alive and any other terrible death you can think of. I have 7 at the moment, though I'm expanding. Enjoy!! Edited May 18, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
Rinzler Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Nice man, I'm not much of a DS9 fan as I am of the other series, but I adore these figs Quote
benjwgarner Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I think that the Vic Fontaine fig looks the most like the show. The hair on the Odo fig is perfect. Nice job! I'll be looking forward to seeing how Quark's lobes turn out. Quote
Rinzler Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Thank you! Who's your favourite? Worf, I've always had a facsination towards Klingons. You should give him a Bat'Leth, you can find them in the Kre-O sets Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Thanks both! benjwgarner - Thank you! I'm thinking either getting the afore mentioned lobes from the Kero fig or, the man bat ears. Cut and file them down till I get two oval shapes, smooth the head down, then find some paint that matches the head. Rinzler - I stocked up on these: http://www.firestartoys.com/Shop/Minifigure-Weapons/Brick-Command-Weapons/5686-Brick-Command-~-Wing-Sword-~-Gunmetal-.html awhile back (I've got a shot somewhere of my TNG Worf with one). I've also got a smashed up Pirate cutlass and my plan is to trim the end of, about half way, and cut the handle a bit to make a Mek'leth. I'm looking at making Martog as well, so I may have more Klingon's soon! Quote
Rinzler Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Nice, I've 2 Kre-O ones from the line. Good luck finding Quark, those figs are incredibly rare, I'm (still) trying to get my hands on Nero and the Gorn Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Sorry for the belated reply. Thanks for the info regarding Quark, I didn't know he was so rare. To eBay, I believe! An update of sorts. I'm currently making Gul Dukat, Weyoun, Kai Winn, and the female changeling. I'm using one of these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x141 For the Cardassian armour. Any ideas regarding Jem'Hadar parts? Quote
Rinzler Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Dukat also got a Kre-O fig, maybe you could take the armour from him Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Thanks Rinzler, and sorry for the late reply! I've been looking infrequently on eBay to see if anyone has spare minimate parts, particularly weapons, for any Cardassians, Klingons, Romulans etc. So far, I've made: More redshirts for a (hopefully) upcoming DS9 MOC Sloan Weyoun A Mek'leh blade for Worf Half way through making Dukat, the female changeling, and Winn, and I'm looking at perhaps making Keiko, Eddington, and, though I currently don't have the parts, the crew from Far Beyond The Stars. If Dukat's successful, I'd love to try making Tain and Dumar as well. Beyond DS9, it's possible I may branch out to TOS and Voyager, but before hand I'd like to expand my TNG stuff, as I've found a great hair piece for Shelby. Quote
Rinzler Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) Nice, Dr, have you considered making any figs from the original series? For example General Trelane (retired), Koloth, Captain Garth and Khan. And with all our talk of Kre-O figs, it makes me wonder why nobody has made a thread on how to customize them, I want to add to my Star Trek universe - though mainly original series and the reboot Edited June 19, 2014 by Rinzler Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) Well, your read my mind! I'm hopefully going to order stickers for TOS soon, though I'm going to have to wait on making an Uhura, as no doubt the Storm head is rather expensive at the moment. Kang, Kor, Koloth, Garth of Izar, Khan and Marla, Trelane (one of the Pirates of the Caribbean torsos methinks), the Gorn captain, Harry Mudd, transporter duplicate Kirk, Dr Daystorm and the M5, and maybe some Kelvans like Rojan are what I've got in mind at the moment. I'd love somehow also to make Lokai and Bele from let that be your last battlefield, and some secondary characters on the Enterprise such as Lt. Kyle or Dr M'Benga. I have seen Minimate customs, though not here, but never Kero. I'd love to have a crack at the Guardian Of Forever as well, minifig scale. Edited June 19, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
Rinzler Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) WOAH! (Announcer Voice) And a wave of awesomeness comes from the doctor! I didn't expect that amount of characters Doc, I'm impressed. When I had my Lego Star Trek customs, I was and still am scarce of POTC figs aside from Jack Sparrow, so I used a Lone Ranger Cavalry Officer torso. There is a thread located on Eurobricks somewhere with a lot of OS decals, including Klingons, Andorians and the Gorn, I'll post a link when I find it Link 1: Enterprise Crewmembers http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=28802 Link 2: Other Characters http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=29533 Do you think anybody mind if I started up that Kre-O thread? Because I know that there is a lot of hate towards the Kreons on EB Edited June 20, 2014 by Rinzler Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 Thanks! I've been customizing the 90s Star Trek action figures for years, so some "cough a lot" of the ideas are from them figs, but next to DS9 TOS is my favourite, so expect a lot of love for them! Who else have you made, may I ask? Thanks for the links, very much appreciated. I'd contact the MOD around here, LuxorV, and ask. He'll give you some good advice. Quote
LuxorV Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 As a general EB rule, clone/other brands stay in community. The only exception up to now is the Bootleg SHs, as they involve comparing with actual LEGO customs. Quote
Rinzler Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the info Lux, looks like I'll end up scowering Community for ideas then Doc, so far in my Kre-Overse, my customs are as followed Mugato Gorn Garth of Izar John Harrison/Khan Noonien Singh And I'm currently working on Trelane and the Salt Vampire, that is the furthest I've gotten with my low number of Kre-O parts. I'm looking into purchasing Sulu, Nero, Gorn (Abrams Version) and General Chang from Ebay EDIT: LuxorV, would a custom Kre-O decals thread be welcome in either of the Community or the MCW forums? I've got some that I would like to show off Edited June 21, 2014 by Rinzler Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Sounds good! Good ideas, the Salt Vampire's an interesting one, may I ask how you plan to achieve it's vampiric good looks? Via the decals? The TOS stuff should be on it's way, I also got some Enterprise stickers, so more Trek stuff is being made. Stay tuned! Edited June 21, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
LuxorV Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 EDIT: LuxorV, would a custom Kre-O decals thread be welcome in either of the Community or the MCW forums? I've got some that I would like to show off Even though they are decals, I think Community would be best, as this forum is LEGO-centric. Quote
Rinzler Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) Thanks, Lux, that thread should be up in a few minuites/hours Doc: For the Salt Vampire, I used the decals from one of the links I gave you. I'm still looking for a hairpiece that fits the character's image, do you have any ideas? I'm looking forward to seeing the Enterprise stuff, please tell me Porthos will be there, damn I love that dog. Yesterday, I took some inspiration from you and built the Guardian of Forever. If I can get pictures up I will but I wouldn't count on it. Be sure to look for the Kre-O Decals thread in Community to check out some of my work. Edited June 22, 2014 by Rinzler Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Maybe this Lego wise for the M 113 creature, or something similar?: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=95225&in=S In grey? Any suggestions on Porthos? Most Lego dogs seem too big. I've got the main crew, Daniels, Arik Soong, and a couple of others lined up in my mind, though Phlox is going to be hard. Wow! Glad I inspired you, I look forward to seeing it! If you've got a problem with posting pics, drop me a PM, I'll try and help (I had a problem posting pictures too). I'll keep an eye out! Edited June 23, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
Rinzler Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks for the suggestion, Doc I'm sure that Porthos could be done brick-built if you could find the right parts What I mean is that I don't own a camera, my phone doesn't have one either, damn I need to upgrade Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 I'll have to give that a try! So, just like I did with DS9, a little teaser for the upcoming TOS figs (my supplies arrived today): "Risk! Risk is our Business. That's what this starship is all about." Lots, lots, lots more to come soon. Quote
Rinzler Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 WHEN IS SOON! I am seriously pumped for the figs, alert me IMMEDIATELY when they're up Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) I'm "trying" to take photos now, so soon will either be late late tonight or tomorrow more likely. Either way, a PM will be sent immediately afterward. No Uhura, I've got the body, legs, and hair done, but I haven't got a Storm head or the money to get one, and more will be up in the next few weeks, but a lot (i.e. all the main crew plus a few others...) will be up. EDIT: Photos have been taken, just need to retake a few things here and there. Tomorrow is the likely time now, so keep an eye out. Edited June 28, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
