Lego canvas in bulk?

I posted this over in general discussion and it was suggested that I try here. Anyone able to help me out? Original post:

What is the material that Lego uses for their ship sails and such? I'm looking to get ahold of some in bulk for a non-Lego custom project, but I don't know exactly how to go about it. Any help? Thanks.

To my knowledge, it's a thin, tightly-woven cloth. I don't know if they've changed the material or anything. You could probably find a similar material at a fabric or craft store.
