sithewok Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 What is the material that Lego uses for their ship sails and such? I'm looking to get ahold of some in bulk for a non-Lego custom project, but I don't know exactly how to go about it. Any help? Thanks. Quote
eileenkeeney Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I used Iron on patch material, when I made my own sails. It worked well, and had the needed stiffness. It felt very similar to the Lego sails. But I did not apply heat to actually activate the iron on feature. I am guessing that too much heat could cause an issue. But that does prevent the fabric from unraveling. Have you looked at outdoor materials at the fabric store. Feel the material they use on outdoor furniture. It has that same feel (well the cheaper stuff does). I also notice this material does not unravel as easily as other denim. It has some sort of coating. Quote
emilstorm Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Maybe ask in the pirate forum, I am sure someone there knows exactly what fabric it is. Quote
sithewok Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Thanks for the replies. Perhaps I will try in the pirates forum. Quote
