___ Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 Hey ppl, just a quick render to show...probably ...the final results of my Blender addon (but it looks like I will not release it cos it seems it may become part of the official LDR Importer further improving its capabilities, tradaaaaaa ) Quote
legolijntje Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 That looks very nice, but I think the seams look a bit big at the bricks in the middle of the stairs. And,what are those weird yellow dots in the trans-yellow windows? But, you made some big progress already Quote
___ Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) That looks very nice, but I think the seams look a bit big at the bricks in the middle of the stairs. Actually they are not at all and I explain it right away , but hey guys did anyone from you have ever build with real bricks? Well, probably not it seems... when you build with real stuff especially with those reversed slopes used in the middle of the stairs THEY ARE MORE LIKE TURN A BIT TO EACH SIDE hence the bigger seam there and I can guarantee to you it is much reallife then some virtual nicely aligned bricks that looks too unrealistic...besides I personally own this set and in my case yes, there is a bt bigger seam exactly at that place, so... Anyway it is still not in its final phase so there is a good chance I will change it if I decide to...but I like this for reasons I described above And,what are those weird yellow dots in the trans-yellow windows? This is not final render, juat a quick one to show what my addon does (I did not want to wait for a quality render for tens of minutes, you know), nothing else hence those "fireflies" in trans. yellow window which is caused by not well setup renderer, that's it so no problem But, you made some big progress already Yea, thanx, actually it looks like I do not release my addon as from yesterday it looks like I could be probably part of the LDR Import plugin team and I decided joining my effort with theirs and we release it together under LDR Import in some of their next releases...well in case they really decide they want any of my improvements P.S.: ...but yea, I can still release it independently anyway cos no one knows when and if this will be added to their code, actually we are discussing it from yesterday Edited May 19, 2014 by bublible Quote
legolijntje Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Who/what is actually that ldr import team you and (virtualrepublic?) keep talking about? Did I miss something? Quote

Did I miss something? yea, probably you did... anyway, here you go: https://github.com/le717/LDR-Importer BTW talking about LEGO: while ago I bought me some Danish sweets...oh, how symptomatic! Renderbricks Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 The seams feature is great and you definitely need bevels. Optimally by a shader to keep it RAM friendly *:-) Quote

Optimally by a shader to keep it RAM friendly *:-) I do not know now if it was directed at me dealing my seams effect but if so then thanx! And it is made by combination of modifiers, not shaders (to my knowledge there is no such shader in Blender depository, or even better said I did not heard about modifier shaders...but I can be wrong as I am still new to Blender but from what I know there is none such shader) Edited May 19, 2014 by bublible Quote
