I know there are several talented artists here, so I thought I'd ask for some help. I'm making a face decal using a template from MCN, but it's being...difficult. I had erased the eyes, and drawn my own pair over, and yet when I resized them a bit, the old, erased eyes seem to have reappeared! I then try to re-erase them, and even more pops up! It's like some bad joke *wacko*

Anyway, I also want to make a certain oval that I used for the eye to have the outline going over the pupil, however it seems to not want to cooperate...I'll brickshelf if so you can see what I'm talking about.

When I get this done I can just add eyebrows and maybe a facial feature or two, and then my sigfig will finally be complete :-)

If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it, this thing has been a major headache...I've never tried coreldraw before, but I heard it was the most user friendly thing to use.

Edit: Here's a link to get the coreldraw file (kind of afraid to modify it to a jpg because I have no idea what I would have lost :-$ )

Here

when ever you draw something in corel, you need to open the objectmanager as well. that way you can easily place one line on top of the other.

what you do is this:

1) start from the file you attached to this post

2) click on the oval, and delete the black outline (go to the third last icon in the left column, click on the smal arrow in the corner of the icon, then you get a list of new icons, click on the third)

3) then copy the oval. you'll see in the object manager that this object is now the highest item in the column... add the outline (click on the same icon, then on the fourth or fifth icon,... depending on how thick you want your line to be)

4) click on the crossed white box, on top of the right column with the colours. that will erase the white filling of the object.

5) once you've done one eye, group the entire group of lines to one object, by selecting the lines, and go to "sort", which is the fifth column, next to "layout' on top of your screen, then select "group"

6) go to the objectmananger and give it a decent name, like "left eye" or something. then just copy the lot

the MCN template has got to go, once you've drawn all your lines in coral, just delete the RGB-map in the objectmanager; you only need to do the mouth, right?

1) select the Bezier-tool

2) go to one end of the "mouth" to start a line, scroll with your mouse at the screen in the direction of the other end

3) do the same with a second point of the line, which is the other end of the mouth, then you get a curve. manipulate that curve by selecting the second icon in the column to the left, then click on either one of the points and you'll see two arrows. move those around to change the curve.

Ah! Thanks so much for typing all that up for me, sne! I really appreciate it :-) As soon as I wake up tomorrow I'll definitely try that out. One of the things I was trying to figure out was that there doesn't seem to be a tool to allow me to select an area of the screen, rather it seems to just let me select one item at a time (a particular shape vs. a region). But I'm sure with your instructions I'll be able to figure it out
