PocasNuckie Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) Hello fellow Eurobricks friends, today I give you my latest LEGO Mosaic masterpiece, here presented at PLUG's Oeiras Brincka 2014 Event. This time I chose to represent someone I am a huge fan of - Portuguese descendant American Actress Lyndsy Fonseca (you may know her from the movies Hot Tub Time Machine or the 2010 CW TV Series "Nikita"). Besides just making another Mosaic, this time I also wanted to make a bit of a study. As you may or may not know so far I have always done my Mosaic with 1x1 Plates only and this was starting to get awful, not just because of the time and effort spent but mostly because of the bill. I really needed to find a way to make big things like this but way cheaper. So I settled for a compromise between using the less pieces possible but not in such an exhaustive way that the optimization process (and then buying the pieces) wouldn't kill me of boredom. That said I made this Mosaic with roughly 40% of the possibly needed pieces - 7900 agaisnt 20500 1x1 Plates - and it costed me roughly 40% of the money compared to the budget I calculated for the case I would have bought only 1x1 Plates. Like I said it wasn't optimal - I could have probably used somewhere between 500 and 1000 less pieces, but then again the idea wasn't to be perfect and I think It worked out quite well in the end anyways. Here's some specifications: Size - 50x40 inches / 127x102cm Number of Pieces - ~7900 Types of Pieces - Plates 4x4, 2x6, 2x4, 2x2, 1x1 Colors - Black, White, Dark Bluish Gray, Light Bluish Gray, Reddish Brown, Dark Tan and Tan Hours of work - ~40 Hope you all liked it as much as I like it and am proud of it. I've been getting a lot of positive reviews here on the exhibit and actually ended up beeing interviewed for TV yesterday. Stay cool. Pedro Edited May 2, 2014 by PocasNuckie Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Very nicely done. The mosaic is almost as gorgeous as the actress. I've considered doing a mosaic before, but I think it would take too much time/money that I don't have to do properly. I can hardly buy the sets I want, let alone MOCs. Quote
Legogal Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Wow! What a lovely mosaic! Looks like a photo it is so real. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Bem feito--nicely done! The scale and precision of your mosaic are very impressive! Quote
