Heh, last night I noted that all 60 odd of my displayed Star Wars figures were originals, no bootlegs - I would be pretty excited if the bootleggers (or Lego for that matter) produced some of the more obscure characters! I have been very underwhelmed by all of the LOTR and SW bootlegs.

Having said all that, the bootleggers don't generally seem to want to produce non Lego produced figures on the whole, just existing - and even worse at times the ones that have already been done by a rival company!! But when they do, its very exciting - wish they'd do more - I love the likes of FF, Punisher, Hawkeye, Galactus and the big Figs etc

Obviously they when they do go off the Lego produced tracks, then I suppose they rely on pinching other peoples designs - I am less aware of Star Wars customs than Super Hero - must look into that...

I think I only have one custom printed figure and that's Yanne Isard by Christo... I'm still waiting for him to print a few more Thrawn figures before buying one. I made a custom Starkiller using an original torso and updated pieces as the old figure looked like it was lacking a little and I've also made a purist Mara Jade... as well as updating the Rebel pilots with the new uniforms and heads etc... I like to keep my rebel fleet up to date.

Those Dargo figures are slightly better than I thought they'd be... and yet still nowhere near good enough to purchase.

One thing I'm actually a little annoyed about... The DLP Nick Fury from the Hellicarrier has light bley legs instead of dark bley but they match the print perfectly on my original figure's torso... whereas the original leg print doesn't! I think I'll be keeping the DLP torso and adding them to the dark bley legs on the SY figure (they've printed the torso on dark bley instead of black)... add the trench coat and the SY head and that figure will probably look better than the original!

*snip*

Have they appeared on AE yet?

I've seen this in multiple Taobao sellers. Perhaps it will appear on AE soon.

That's a good sign... if they're on Taobao and are that readily available it shouldn't be long before the AE sellers get them and we should have a review from Digger around the same time.

It's the best Dargo set I have seen yet, but still waaaay off - bullet dodged with my cancellation! Worth waiting for Decool now.

Haha, you just reminded me, I do have one Custom SW Figure - Thrawn - which I made myself and I was well chuffed with it - though its decal based, I've sold quite a few of them on ebay. Do you have a Mara Jade Pic? Though like Thrawn, she's no longer canon! I am hoping Thrawn will be used at some point in the new films, he's a terrific character.

I think the DLP Fury is superior (though I swapped heads) I've just decided that he's wearing LBG trousers and DBG Zipper under his black trench!

How many on this thread just collect figures via the bootleggers and are then happy to give the genuine Lego sets a miss?

I end up buying the majority of the genuine sets (two of quite a few of them since my son's also a big Lego and super hero fan.) I also have managed to aquire a few genuine SDCC figures, a handful of customs and my own MOCs (both purist and not) that live in harmony alongside the bootlegs in my displays like this one. I will say I am far less likely to buy bootlegs of figures I already have or can easily acquire (not due to any moral standing... just lack of patience mostly), but all they have to do is stick in a pearlized silver hammer or a cartoon style Ultron helmet and all of the sudden they're taking my money. Honestly, I get just as excited about the bootleg figures as I do the Lego ones and thanks to the rapid and abundant releases I stay glued to this thread. I may not end up buying certain genuine sets (like the Helicarrier) but I wouldn't have done that even if the bootlegs were not available... I would have just nabbed the figures I want from ebay or bricklink (like I did the Joker from the tumbler.) At the end of the day I don't think anyone needs to really shed any tears for Lego... I do my fair share to contribute to their license to print money (as I'm betting many in this thread do.)

Mara is one of my favorite Star Wars characters... I was more than a bit miffed when they nixed the Thrawn trilogy from canon. I wanted a Mara (and a Thrawn... there's one I eye quite often that only my wife's wrath has stopped me from buying) for the longest time and I ended up snagging this one off ebay for a couple bucks a while back. Looking at it critically now I think I'm going to make some tweaks... I'd be very interested in seeing the pictures as well (for inspiration!)

I'm really torn on that one. I keep going back and forth... I think the SY has more accurate (and ever so slightly better quality) printing on the torso and head and I like the darker grey legs but they REALLY dropped the ball on the torso. I have no idea why they chose to use dark grey over black for the torso (and especially the arms.) Right now I'm leaning towards swapping some black arms on the SY one and rolling with it.

Damn. That's a good looking wall of minifigs^.

After looking at the Nick Fury comparison I'm glad I bought the SY set. It's just a shame about the Ultron. I much prefer the DLP Ultron.

I'm just interested how many, if any, just get these sets?

I know there are people who just keep those that aren't released by Lego and maybe some of the harder to get figures or even those that are just in expensive sets.

Just interested that's all...

Those DLP Iron Man figs look really good... It'll be nice to expand the Hall of Armour with at least one new suit and maybe some upgrades.

I buy any and every bootleg I like, original or not. But if I have a few bucks to spare I gladly pick up official LEGO sets I like too. It's just about getting stuff I enjoy for me

I've got to stop being an early adopter! That price is way better than what I have paid. Oh well.

Just another note on the quality of the bootleggers bricks, which are generally poor - but I have found them very helpful recently in building MOCs, I can get a much better idea of what to order for BL by practically building the whole thing with multi-coloured junk bricks which is really useful. FWIW Bela bricks (the first thing I ever bought of Aliexpress was a test purchase of a Chima Micro Ball jointed Gorilla for about £2.50) are I think the best ones (out a bad bunch) I have reused all the brackets and micro ball joints in my new brick built Sentinel (coming to Flickr soon, once a few more parts arrive!)

I've just had my last items arrive from AE and they're the SY sets of the new Avengers and the set with Batzarro etc.

I must say that I'm about as impressed with the quality of the Avengers set as I have been about any bootleg set. If it wasn't for Black Widow's hairpiece I'd say they were almost perfect.

The printing on all of them is incredibly accurate and now that I've used the SY legs and head with the DLP torso of Nick Fury I definitely have to day that the bootleg looks as good if not better than the original as the print lines up perfectly from the coat and zipper print.

Aside from the Wonder Woman issue missing silver print I think the other set is also really good. Batzarro is excellent and with the addition of the Decool double sided head would be close to identical to my original. Collector is good although the Decool hairpiece is better. Thor's helmet is great and is already sitting on the genuine Lego figure's head... although I'm not sure where the design of the Thor that comes in this set is from. It's the worst print wise also with the silver just very slightly off. Taskmaster looks decent but the original isn't very inspiring anyway and Martian Manhunter also looks very good although his facial print is a touch heavy.

Let's see what they can come up with next!

Looking forward to the DLP Iron Man wave also.

I am eagerly awaiting my "kreo" Baymax set. I did have several other orders, but cancelled them after horrific waiting times (and the Decool announcement) I love having a steady stream of stuff coming, but I am a bit light at the moment, and it looks like the 6 day ship was a one off too. bah.

Going to have a fair few spare figures now, will have to work out what to do with them... maybe some more frames on ebay.

If anyone did actually manage to get the Jean Grey Set (with the cannons) and doesn't want her, I'd be interested in buying

Found these in a local toy store. I am trying to figure who the manufacturer is. Anyone recognize them or have any ideas?

Well you just might be in luck there. The canon in two of my sets had pieces missing so there's sending new ones out... and one of them is the Jean Grey set.

When it arrives I'll let you know.

I found some big minifigures on aliexpress a while back (like these http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Wholesale-Big-Minifigure-SuperHeroes-6PCS-lot-Buliding-Block-Education-Baby-Toy-Classic-Compatible-with-Lego-Freeshipping/1292836_1995343367.html. I thought they were funny for display. The newer brand is a little taller than the one I got on AE. The hips/legs are more similar to Lego style on the newer one I found.

Here they are next to the regular minifigures.

The old ones are F&Y World. I am not sure who made the Hawkeye/Thor/Hulk. They are on sale on AE (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Wholesale-Big-Minifigure-SuperHeroes-6PCS-lot-Buliding-Block-Education-Baby-Toy-Classic-Compatible-with-Lego-Freeshipping/1292836_1995343367.html)

I was thinking of modding one into a Galactus based on the SY figure. GIANT Man is also a good idea.

These new big figures look pretty cool, but I want a Lego clock size galactus please!!

A bit irrelevant but has any ever bought anything from this website before? "https://minifigsarea.com". Thinking of getting some custom printing done and just wondered if anyone had any experience with them?? Thanks
