xenologer Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Well its kinda SW related I just picked up some of the 'microfighters' xwing an tie intercepter first off, leaving the store I discover my bicycle headlight stolen. arriving at home, I open the sets to discover the polybags cut and taped back together minifigs from each gone no doubt to be scalped someplace, I'm sure SW minifigs go for a lot? seems the boxes were opened and hot glued to fool the returns counter Yeah, really disappointing day. I'm an AFOL, I'll live, at least it wasn't a kid who got stuck with it right? well, just venting feel free to move lock delete topic if no discussion merited Quote
TWP Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 just return them to the store and ask for new ones, it's their fault, not yours. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Wow, that's pretty unlucky. Hope things get better for you. Quote
Nom Carver Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 That´s a pretty bad bad streak of events, maybe you have been hexed . to avoid such issues buy your stuff on a trusty store like a lego store or you could also move to another city/country. Talking seriously, you can loose faith in people but you should never do so on humanity. Quote

Fuppylodders Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Thats really crap. I picked up a small box of lego with spiderman in it. well, it didnt have him in it, someone had carefully opened it and took out the bag... I hope you were able to get it sorted out! Quote
DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Search on ebay for someone who sells minifigs AND a bicycle headlight, and you got the culprit. No seriously, that's bad, but the Lego customer service is very forthcoming in compensating such issues, at least in my experience. Quote
DuckBricks Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Man, that's horrible! I experienced the same thing (but on a lesser scale) at my local Target where all the polybags in the Easter section had been ripped open with half the parts gone. Every single one. I was so annoyed, and let an employee know, but he didn't seem to care... Oh well... I'm sorry you experienced that. Quote

If an employee didn't care, I would suggest to ask the manager about that, if polybags are getting ripped in half that easily, the same might happen with the boxed sets if they don't keep their standards. Yeah, I agree. He just said that he was sorry that happened, but he really can't do anything and walked away... people these days... Quote

InvincibleEagle Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Now, that just sucks. We don't like to think about such scumbags abusing Lego; we'd imagine such a niche to be totally off their radar, but here we are, getting ripped off. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Aw man, I feel so bad for you. It's really unfortunate that some people choose to do these things, eh? Good luck. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I have yet to experience this, but I have heard about many times. Those kind of people REALLY suck. Quote
darththeling Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I don't get it. I thought Lego did a reasonably good job of tamper-proofing the packs with that tape. I guess we all should be vigilante and check the boxes carefully before checkout to ensure no funny business. I would be raving angry if this happened to me. There must be some clues to indicate if hot glue was used. The bicycle headlight too... what a rotten day! Sorry to hear it. Quote
N-4K0 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 What a joke. One must be really greedy to bother stealing minifigs from Lego sets to resell for profit, or whatever reason the responsible person(s) had Quote
jtr Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Reminds me of my local Big W and Target, where just about all copies of a Lego mini figure book where missing the actual minifig. Although it seemed to be starwars books/mini figures manily Quote
Master_Data Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Sorry to hear that. At places by me, poybags with licensed characters are almost always torn open. It happened a lot more often during the reign of Mr. Gold. I do wonder what they do with all of those damaged sets. They can't really sell them...maybe they will let you keep it and get some of your money back? Quote
Maniac4Legos Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Wow I'm very sorry to hear that happen to you. The headlight stealing is very wrong but so is the Minifigures. One time I bought a Ninjago set that I knew was tampered but it was also half off. I thought pieces or figures would be missing. I was lucky to find that everything from bags to stickers was intact! I feel very grateful for this find since I recognize others are not so lucky. Take care and hope that you can get the figures somehow. :) I don't get it. I thought Lego did a reasonably good job of tamper-proofing the packs with that tape. On most boxes I would agree with you. However there are some boxes that can easily be torn open despite tape. The $20 boxes for lego sets especially super heroes can be simply peeled back. I've seen in with the side popping out in my target store. Other smaller boxes typically have finger punch sections. These are perforated to allow kids to open them easily. I do wonder what they do with all of those damaged sets. They can't really sell them...maybe they will let you keep it and get some of your money back? I've seen that happen in my local target and toys r us stores. Usually opened packs are pushed behind shelves. If you ask for purchasing an opened pack they could sell it to you if mostly intact. I'd imagine some stores wouldn't sell them or would send them back to where they came from. Quote
