chaosboi Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I just placed my first order with Bricks and Pieces and was surprised to see some rare items at a very low price compared to BL as some have mentioned above. The items showed in stock when I placed the order, and then shortly after I recived an email advising the item was out of stock so could be delayed. Question is, does this happen often and should I be concerned I won't get the part as I'm sure it's retired? Or do they often stock up rare parts? Quote
zux Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Unfortunately, Brick and Pieces selection is not up-to-date quite often. It happens that "available" parts are no longer available actually. Quote
chaosboi Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 How long usually till they tell me if they won't be able to supply it? Quote
MAB Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 You do have to watch out a bit. They will often ship the rest anyway if you don't cancel the order after being told about rare parts not being ready to ship, then they cancel the rare parts later as they cannot supply them. It is a right pain if it turns out they ship you parts worth a few dollars / pounds and cancel the rest as they will charge postage at full rate. I know it is only £2 for postage, but if they send parts worth £2 (after cancelling rare parts worth £50) and you end up paying £4 for them, it doesn't look as good. They had the MF rigging a few days ago showing as in stock. Of course, it wasn't really. Quote
chaosboi Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 MAB this is exactly what has happened now! And I'm a little unhappy as I'm in Australia and I'm paying $15 postage. The rare items are still showing as backorder, so I called tonight to cancel the whole order and I was told that the remainder is already being picked so I can't cancel, and those back ordered parts are discontinued! I've also checked my credit card statement and the have still charged for the full order amount even though the majority of the cost of for backordered/discontinued parts. Maybe I should have stuck to BrickLink! Quote
zux Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Don't worry about charged amount they should refund them once order is shipped. Quote
Gremer Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 How do I order pieces from Bricks and Pieces? I enter my information, but it doesn't give me an option to buy pieces after I proceed. Quote

Are you logged into Lego.com? Go to the BnP screen. The link will be at the bottom of the site under building instructions link. Once you select the set or part number of the piece you want you click add to bag. Once done then proceed to check out. It will take you to the processes inn payment screen. Use it all the time and I just tested it. It's currently working. ^You are talking about Bricks and Pieces and not Pick a Brick right?? Crazy. That'd be awesome for them to show the prices as you put them into your bag. I've been asking TLG customer service to show the prices for awhile now on BnP. They had a pilot project in the UK with this service. I'm pleased to say that they have updated the system last weekend with the prices on BnP. They were still ironing out some of the kinks but I'm loving it! It makes my job of assessing project costs so much easier and reduces the strain on TLG customer service. They send an e-mail with a price quote in a little while (hours to a day or two) and you pay over the phone. Quote
Roger_Smith Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 When I ordered the dark red slopes for Cafe Corner, I was very much not amused to see that they cost about twice as much in that color. All the other colors literally were 50% cheaper. Kinda pissed me off, but it was still a lot cheaper than bricklinking them Quote
