xenologer Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Visited my local Lego Shop in Santa Clara, CA, USA today. They had a new MiniFig PaB setup. Build your own minifig for 3$USD. apparantly, its a Limited event, but the manager told me that he was hoping to convince TLG to make it permanent. Basically they had a tray of dissasembled minifigs (apparantly from various recent sets) and you can assemble 5 pieces per minfig. - hairpiece, head, torso, legs, and an accessory Amazingly, one of the dissasembled figs (which I reassembled and bought) was the new Princess from the Castle theme. You saw her in the ToyFair pics captured by evil skeletons... Aside from that though, the rest seem pretty standard; But Still, they had female hairpieces and heads mixed in. So its a great way to help the 'gender problem' in your Town. ...I'm wishing I'd bought more than 2 women... I'll have to drop by again later, hope its still there. The did say Limited! Anyone else's Shop doing this? I sure hope it catches on as a permanent addition to PaB. Quote
Starwars4J Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 one of the dissasembled figs (which I reassembled and bought) was the new Princess from the Castle theme. That's a FANTASTIC deal 8- Quote
xenologer Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 OH, I forgot to mention, They also had the new Orange BinTruck (Garbage Truck) for 15$USD and the Green Container Truck for 20$USD and the Double Dump Truck for.... I forget, something costing more. I got the Container loading truck, because I can't resist heavy equiptment :-) No Mars Mission Yet though. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 They used to have a vast minifig PaB in Legoland Billund back in the days (around 2005-4), it was a huge selection, with all oldschoool torsos and faces. Man I bought much. *wub* And the price.. 50 DKK for a hectogram (ca. 80 USD for a kilo).. I can assure you, that really raised my minifig population! ..But now it is replaced by a huge Clickits PaB.. :-| Such a shame. :'-( Quote
xenologer Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 ... I wouldn't mind some clickits, they have some nice transparent flower pieces perfect for those battle scenes in the methane rainforests of Titan... Quote
Norrington Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I've seen this at the Walt Disney World Lego store. I hate to burst bubbles here, but $3 for a single figure? That deal is horrid! Then there is $9 for 4 :-| The steep price for a single figure is not really worth it, and thats why I didn't buy any, but the figures were nice. If they were $2 then we'd be in buisness. Quote

Wierd, I thought it was a permanent thing in every store? I went to the Seattle, WA store last October during NWBrickCon and the Portland, OR store last month during Brick Fest and they had this. They even let you buy any 5 items for the "complete minifig" price. That's how I picked up a dozen slave-girl Leia legs and other bits without actually buying a complete fig. Of course it may have been special "fest" pricing but I am sure I paid less than 1/2 the price you quoted. :-/ Quote
TheCloneWalker Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 We've already got this at Brighton, UK permanently. It costs Quote

Considering two of the figs you can build are the new $50-set Castle princess and evil wizard, I'd say it's a pretty good deal, actually, especially if you don't want to spend $50 to get those two or don't have the Castle sets out in your area yet. And knowing BL, that princess would've been pricey if these build-a-fig stations hadn't been found. I don't think it's the best source of army-building, no, but if you need a couple rare figs it's a great deal. Over in my American neck of the woods, we've never had these in my local area that I know of. So while it may be old news to some European folks (and other areas of the US), it's a nice breath of fresh air for me. ;) m19 Quote
Athos Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 $3 per figure is a little steep, but I imagine the princess will be rather rare as she only comes in a single set and if history is any indication, we won't see her again... Now if only they had armor in the bin, you could stick on her, it might be worth it. It was a better deal for me, who found a new Anakin hair in the bin and managed to snag it, so now I don't need to buy the Naboo Fighter just for that hair. Steve Quote
paul_delahaye Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 This is a very, very rare day in Lego history. I think what we are saying here is the UK is the cheapest place to buy a PAB minifig at a cost of only Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Cool! That sounds cool. I wish i had a Lego store. -ZotS Quote
