jonty14 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Hi everyone. Just out of interest, what happened to the two lego factories in Switzerland? Best regards. Jon. Quote
gratefulnat Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 There were two factories, one in Willisau and one in Steinhausen. The factory in Willisau was closed in 2005 resulting in the loss of 237 jobs. The 55'000 square meter factory complex in Willisau was bought in 2011 by a company called Brack Competec group. The factory in Steinhausen was sold to a company called Wisi'on Tool, with at the time no loss of the 62 employees. One of their goals was to continue manufacturing molds for LEGO, along with other contracts for other companies. What in the end really happened I don't know (too late to google more). I also believe that the Family Kristiansen ownes the LEGO company through KIRKBI A/S, which is still located in Switzerland. You should find a bunch of information just by googling LEGO Switzerland etc. Quote

Palathadric Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Wow! I lived right next to Willisau many years ago but never knew there was a LEGO factory there. Quote
