Racerboy Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'm wondering where I can purchase two Power Functions V2 IR Receivers through LEGO, the next time they're in stock can I buy them from here and have them be guaranteed v2? shop.lego.com/en-GB/LEGO-Power-Functions-IR-Receiver-8884?s=4566735# Or is there a way I can purchase them through replacement parts? Electro Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Lego doesnt currently sell the V2 IR sensor directly. The only way tp get them from Lego currently is the 9398 set. Brinklink or Brickowl are the only places I have seen them individually for sale. Quote
DrJB Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 41999 also has the V2 ... but that's an expensive option. Quote
Racerboy Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 I was hoping I would be able to get it alone to save a lot of money. I will attempt to describe their application below and you guys can make the call as to whether they are necessary. I already have two v1's (I don't think they are the fixed version but I'll check) that I will use on my "tank-drive" robot in the meantime. It is driven by 4 L-Motors (2 on each side), through a geartrain of conical gears (20's and the smaller one i forget) so there is a gear increase there, and from there it drives chain from the center wheels to 4 other wheels, making it a 6-wheel tank drive (three on both sides - they're new-old stock rubber tires about the size of a 40-tooth gear, but pretty narrow, about 2 modules). The center wheels are dropped half a module (actually the corner wheels are raised half a module) so the robot can rock from front to back, so only 4 wheels are in contact with the ground at a time (the other 2 are in the air half a stud. This is for better turning ability.) The robot is about 35 studs long and 25 studs wide or something, I forget. I plan to have 2 lipo batteries onboard powering the 2 receivers, each operating 2 drive motors (one for each side) and a couple various motor-operated pneumatic valves and an on-board compressor with tanks and such. It's going to be quite the robot, and my only worry is power draw with the amount of weight. I will post pictures next week if I get around to it, thanks. Quote
