Lakop Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Evening all, I've not been on the forum as much recently as I've been building and testing. I hope to have something to show you all soon. Anyway, going through my parts boxes I notice I have some pre-built systems. By that I mean engines and some diff set up's and a pneumatic pump that just requires the motor adding. I have some others too. How many of you keep pre-built systems (ie: a suspension set up) maybe from a set or something you've made yourself that can be added to a model? H Quote
unimog123 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I do it pretty often....usually I build a little part and then don't build something with it and then I come back to it and modify it to fit the new setup/idea. Quote
Lakop Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 I've done that myself. I could be doing it now, just made a suspension set up and now i've to make the model. Of course, we can't always keep pre-built set up's becuase of limit on parts that we may have. I'm interested in what others have to say. H Quote
piterx Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 i have the clutch always ready for something, if i can i'll do that with a 3+r gearbox :) Quote
weavil Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I too have but so many parts. So when I make a "pre-built system" I put onto LDD for later use. Or I'll but a system/module in LDD or other CAD, then if I get the money I can build it. Quote

Technyk32231 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I keep together the basic components of most of my suspensions. Basically, I only keep together the parts I would absolutely need to keep together. I'll post some pics soon. I have most of an i-beam suspension, 2 different types of Macpherson struts, a rigid axle front end, a truck axle with kingpin inclination, a mini V8 engine, and more. Quote
Splat Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 With my current project, I'm treating it as a series of multiple sub-systems (drive-train, gearbox, suspension, etc), so I have different versions of those sub-systems all still assembled. After the current project is finished, I will most likely disassemble all of those sub-systems though. I tend to keep pre-built sub-systems together, until I need the parts again, or I need to make more room. In that case, I will usually take some photos and/or recreate the sub-system in LDraw for future reference. Quote
Doc_Brown Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Interesting discussing. Looking at my desk I see many things 80-90% complete such as front suspension setups and a great box experiment. If its half good I will take pics of it and disassemble, unless im planning to use it soon. Quote
