MrNumbskull13 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Hey everyone, I was wondering have any of you ever modded a V1 receiver? By modded, I mean the insides of it. I have a 1.25A motor, the receiver delivers 600mA, this isn't enough and my motor is stalling. I was wondering if any if you have changed/removed the resistor for one of the channels or if it is even possible to.... Any help is appreciated, thanks. :) Quote
BobSmithHello55 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 You should just get a v2 Power Functions Receiver off of Bricklink. According to Philo ( http://philohome.com/pfrec/pfrec.htm ), "Each channel of V2 receiver can provide 1.5A continuous." Quote
DrJB Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) True ... but what if you have few V1's and want to mod them? Surely, if there is a V2, this means TLG missed the boat on this one... correct? Edited April 5, 2014 by DrJB Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 I'd rather not pay £20 for a V2 reciever... I'm not sure why TLG don't sell it separately though. Quote
Captainowie Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Even if you could get 1.5 amps through the reciever, the standard battery box current protection kicks in at less than that, so you're still going to have issues. Quote
Chas Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) You can pick up the receiver from the lego education site. Google the IR receiver and there are a couple of sites that have moded the receiver. Edited April 5, 2014 by Chas Quote

There is good advice on how to mod the battery box here on EB. I always wondered if that would kick in, thanks for clearing things up :) Quote
