I didn't see these posted yet, so apologies if it's buried one of the movie threads: http://imgur.com/a/w3WB2

30 hi-res photos of the actual set used in the LEGO Movie at the end (Finn's Basement), taken at LEGOLAND California as part of a launch event.

EDIT: Here is a link to some additional photography of the basement by another fan (some very similar, but with some additional details like the horse riding a horse and the spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!): http://culinaryadven...e-legoland.html

If you look closely you can see most of the official movie sets like the Ice Cream Machine and The Sea Cow. I love the run-down Firehouse about to be demolished and some of the other modulars they snuck in. My favorite are probably the castle and wild west areas.

Can't wait until caps from the movie scenes start popping up online. There was so much inspiration to be had, so much went by so fast.

Thank you for posting it in a separate discussion. I will not have noticed it and the pictures are indeed amazing. I agreed that this is one of the best way to admire the layout slowly.

So cool! I thought the movie used computer intead of actual bricks. But it is really nice to see someone turns them into the real bricks!

It used a couple million real bricks for a few specific scenes.

I appreciate the link, but isn't this whole thread - including the title, which people in this forum can still see even if they're avoiding reading actual threads about the movie - kind of spoilery for people who haven't seen it yet? Aren't there still some entire countries where it hasn't even opened yet?

It releases on video mid May? It should be available for streaming 2 weeks before that. I think it's pretty much released wherever it's going to, hasn't it?

According to this, it just opened in Australia and Israel a mere three days ago as of this writing, and has yet to open in New Zealand, Austria, and Germany (one of *the* major LEGO markets, the last time I checked), not to mention that there are surely still fans elsewhere who haven't been able to catch it yet, especially since release dates for many other countries were later than our own.

Animal Logic, the production company behind the animation, said their designers used LDD for nearly all of the initial models and had real LEGO on their desks throughout the process. Something like 3 million real bricks were used in addition to all the virtual ones. Every building, every scene, could feasibly be built. What's surprising is how many people that were adults but weren't AFOLs touched the set designs (I wonder how many emerged a AFOLs as a result)!

They pulled in a lot of external AFOL talent for the credits (a work of art in and of itself). I hope the sequel "crowd-sources" more community talent. It would be awesome to see your own LDD MOC used in the background of a scene.

What shade of yellow, blue and orange are the townhouses from the Pet Shop in the pics below?

~snip~

My guess would be bright-light yellow (I believe this is not a regular colour made for the bricks used), bright blue (standard blue) and bright orange (again, I don't think the bricks used in the film are readily available to the public...). Those are my guesses anyway. Look here for all the colours: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Colour_Palette

They do look great in those colours, and these high res pics are awesome

To me, it looked like the regular standard colors that LEGO uses. However, if the yellow is cool yellow, that is readily available in the Friends set Heartlake High. They could have used the 1x2x5 brick to fill in the sides and used 1x2 bricks for the front between the headlight bricks that would be used which looks like were changed to something else anyway.

The blue is definitely the standard LEGO blue.

As for the orange, if it is standard LEGO orange, those do come in bricks. If it is a brighter orange, then it probably wouldn't be available. If this is at LEGOLAND, then it could very well have bricks that aren't in production for everyday builders since some of their creations have unique colors only available to them.

With all of that said, I'm a little surprised they haven't done a modular with the cool yellow color. It isn't as bright as some of the other colors (including standard yellow), so it is possible being a little more subdued it might blend in with the rest of the line.

I would absolutely LOVE to see a light yellow/bright light yellow modular! I am slowly amassing a collection of light yellow bricks for a MOC. That color hasn't been seen since the "Xtreme" sets well over a decade ago. The newer light yellow/cool yellow is a bit brighter... not quite as sophisticated but still an "adult" color.

It's possible the orange might be medium flesh/nougat which was used in the Prince of Persia builds. It can look pretty orange in the right light and is another of my favorite "adult" colors that hasn't really been utilized enough.

One I don't see enough of is dark tan, which has found it's way into a lot of sets but never used extensively in the Creator or Modular lines. It already exists in a lot of brick sizes and isn't very expensive to piece out.
