kangmingjie Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Just curious on how the updates work. I thought I had read somewhere that TLG releases a new update every fall and spring. Is there a way to find out when a new update will appear? I apologize if this has already been asked or belongs in a different thread or topic. Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 This scared me, I was so excited... Usually they're about.. 6-8 months in between. IIRC we just had an update before Halloween or January. It should be updated soon. Perhaps there will be one when the Dream House contest ends? -Sci Quote
kangmingjie Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 To be honest, I'm surprised that it gets updated at all. It's not really creating any revenue for TLG. Do the designers get paid to do the update or is it volunteered labor? If it's volunteered, then my appreciation for them just went through the roof. Quote
Masta' Blasta' Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 The title had me excited, haha. There should be a spring update soon. Last year there was one near the end of March. Quote
bacem Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 the title sure exites me. i tought we got real update. but at least with this i know the answer to a question i've been meaning to ask. Quote
kangmingjie Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 the title sure exites me. i tought we got real update. That's my fault for not creating a better title. Sorry. Quote
Superkalle Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I edited the title from "LDD Update" to "LDD Update anytime soon?" Quote
bak318 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Every LDD fan hopes for another update. In the past there was one in spring around april and autum, around oktober. There's never an announcement. As far as i know, the bricks in the updates come from volenteers, fans and some of lego's team. The program and functions come from a company in Canada. They make silmulation software to learn operate large machines (cranes etc. machines you do not want an oops, sorry i'm learning). You can find them in LDD help-about. They also provide the licence to use LDD, lic.txt. I looked them up and it's cool what they make. Quote
Lyichir Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I truly hope we get an update soon. The last update felt like it was too early for its own good, since it preempted a lot of the amazing new parts for this year. In particular, I had been anxiously awaiting the addition of the new Hero Factory minifig-related parts (because the new scale lets you MOC with an entirely new perspective), as well as the tiny ball joints in the Mixels and Chima Legend Beast sets (which represent a new and easy way to work complex angles into large models or poseability into smaller ones), not to mention other useful parts (the "bowls" from Friends, the fixed-angle plates from Ninjago, and others would be fantastic to work with digitally). At this point, I'm worried that our update may not be until summer, at which point other new, potentially useful parts will be available physically. I like to have new parts available digitally soon after their physical debut, so that I can find out which ones have the most potential for my models and by extension, which of the new sets I should get! JM1971 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Will they ever add the L-Motor and Servo? This years new swingloader has both plus 9398 and 41999 have them making it 3 official sets they are in. Quote
Superkalle Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 What I've been told earlier is that adding the L-Motor and Servo requires a new LDD version (not only a brickset). This is because of the "special feature" with the loose wire ends. So until they release a new LDD version, the L-motor and Servo can't be added. Quote
